Two audio sources (including one that includes mic input) into one 3.5mm headset

I've been having trouble even finding out if what I'm looking for exists.

I have two sources.  One is audio only, and the other is audio with voice chat.  The headset I'm using has an inline mic.

It seems that I'd want a Y adapter which has one 3.5mm 4 pole female end, and two 3.5mm 4 pole male ends (or at least one has to be 4 pole, as one source is audio only).

All I can find anywhere are Y adapters with one 4 pole female end, and two 3 pole male ends.  If I understand correctly, that will allow me to hear the audio from both sources, but nobody will be able to hear my mic.

Any help finding what I'm looking for, or alternative suggestions in accomplishing the same thing?  The only output on both devices is via 4 pole female 3.5mm jack.

Thanks!

You need a mixer of some sort. You can't just "Y" together two audio outputs. You can do that with inputs, to feed to multiple inputs from one source. But connecting two outputs together can add distortion and even damage the devices.

Okay, that's what I was afraid of.  Any suggestions on a device that would fit the bill?  And how much are we talking?  Solving this problem probably is only worth no more than $30 to me, and it sounds like it may not be possible at that budget.

EDIT:  And it would have to also allow for my voice input to be heard on the other end.  I don't know all the technical details, but I'd be inclined to assume that would NOT work if I used a mixer.

This might do the trick:

This costs a little more but is potentially much better:

Or you can DIY for $2 if you know how to solder resistors.
