Sorry I have 3 mb/sec download service, but only 50 kb/sec upload. Would take about a month to upload 60 gb. If your interest in paying for a usb and shipping that might work. Keep in mind that Canada Post is extremely expensive, it's about $50 for overseas airmail with tracking.

Well, I took the plunge and purchased an 65" F9000 on Saturday.  It'll be delivered on Thursday.  I'm giddy.  Thanks to everyone here for your help in answering my questions prior to purchase.  I'm sure I'll have more going forward once I get my hands on it.

When you guys talk about cnet settings, is this what you're referencing?

Should I use these settings right when I get it set up and turned on?

is it worth buying this tv now or wait. I can get this tv for 3900 dollars brand new. have a Panasonic plasma 65gt50
post #486 of 1293

Doesn't worth for $3900 now. Try to obtain a deal closer to $2900 or so. You shall add $500 to upgrade the new one connect box containing HDMI 2.0 port, hevc.265 codec, probably usb 3.0. Wait till July, when all the manufacturers have rolled out their 4K TV.

$3900 for the 65?
yes 3900 what did you pay for it. I might wait like the other member posted for a lesser price. also I don't want to pay another fee later on for the hdmi 2.0 upgrade

$3900 is a pretty decent price to be honest, I'd say go for it. The 2014 model really doesnt offer anything more than the un65f9000 once we get the new one connect. I also find the 2014 model looks a lot cheaper, esp the bezel and the stand, but thats my opinion. At $3900 and say $500 for the new one connect your still only payinf $4400 for a 65 inch 4k tv.

You cannot buy this TV for less. It is price locked by Sumsung. When the new ones roll out this year they will be back to the $7k pricetag and will probably drop to the $3999 price after 6 months.

I think all the manufacturers are doing the price locking now. It's in their best interests.

When the 2014 models come out, the 2013 will come off the price locking and you'll be able to pick them up cheaper. Until then, you're stuck at the $3999 price for the 2013 version.

But if a licensed reseller sells the TV for less than $3999 right now, they will lose their license to sell any more Samsung TV's. And if your buying one at less than $3999...they aren't a licensed reseller....or really stupid.

From what I've managed to find the new TV's won't be out until April and it sounds like we will find out the prices around then. I placed an order for the 55" on Saturday and the BestBuy reps was pretty up front with me and he said he wasn't positive but he would not be shocked if the 2014 models came out with the high price tags initially like the 2013 models did and then maybe lower the price in the fall time like they did with the 2013 models. I didn't want to wait until April so went ahead and placed the order. They have a 15 day price match so should it go on sale for Super Bowl I'm covered but I imagine it will be the lower models that go on sale, not the 9000 series. Either way excited to get it!

Yeah, those are the ones. I plugged in right away and was pretty pleased, well at least until I get an ISF calibration done but waiting until the new One Connect comes so I don't have to get it calibrated again.

Thxs for the answer, maybe you get a PM from me. No need for track and trace I think.

who will be the first to upload the imax content to usenet?

HI to all!

Purchased the 65f9000 from District electrical online for £4149 and have just wall mounted it. It is amazing! Why we pay more in pounds then you guys pay in dollars is beyond my understanding.

I use it as my business computer monitor, but am having difficulties getting the refresh rate above 75hz on anything above 1280x1024 which makes it look like something circa 2003.

Running the computer (dual gtx760 video cards in SLI) does not allow a manual override of the refresh rate. The video cards detect that the tv can run 75hz but the options are not available. Tried powerstrip and overwriting the default 60hz but to no Avail. Ideally i want to run it in 1920x1080 at 75hz and thats perfect. 4k resolution at 30hz is doable but its just impracticable using the whole table to move the mouse cursor across!!!

Windows 8 is the OS. Im going to try replacing the hdmi cable with a 1.4a one today which hopefully will allow the higher refresh rate, I find it important as 75hz for normal day to day computing puts alot less strain on your eyes, especially at 65 inches!

Using HDMI2, and it seems to grey out most options on the picture tuning other then entertain and standard.

Its also a pity the oneconnect box has no displayport connectivity..

I believe that its the standard vga monitor (or widescreen 2580 75hz) windows drivers that are stopping it from upping the refresh rate. Also I think that the oneconnect box seems to stop the computer to talk to the tv to query its capabilities. Considering these tvs can do 1000hz that is a bit sad.

Any ideas??

Given the size to upload, 60gb, I don't think you'll see many if any users that can do it unless they have a week on their hands. Shipping USBs is the way to go on this.

Just a side note, spoke to my sister who lives in Kansas (I live in Seattle) and they just picked up a Samsung 65" F8000 and BestBuy was running an in store special that you also got a free sound bar. They took the value of the free sound bar and applied it to a better one. I figured if you bought from BestBuy within the last 15 days maybe check your store to see if they are doing it too, if it's on the 8000 I would think it would apply to the 9000 as well but this may vary from location to location.

** Update 2006 available **

Just updated via pop-up update notification. Everything appears to be fine and settings weren't changed.
Me too, update all good. I assume this is just more 'picture improvements.'

Samsung doesn't have firmware 2006 listed on their website so I'm not sure what it did. I really wish they would do a better job at informing their customers what these updates resolve or improve.
It's taken me 10 minutes to move from 48% completed to 55% completed. I'm tempted to cancel and do it again in off hours. Does anyone know of a significant problem with hitting the "cancel" button midstream?

Yeah, I just checked too when I saw the pop up come up. Really wish they added to the pop up an option to view a change log or at least a high level description of what the update is for..... Wonder what it is. Anyone reach out to Samsung support?
