I ordered Carl's Flexiwhite to build a 16:9 screen in the 130'' - 140'' range for my new Benq W1070 projector. My living room has a fair amount of ambient light (windows and southeast exposure, which I won't be able to cover completely). The room does have blinds, which prevent direct sun from entering the room. I will use the projector primarily at night when light is less of an issue, so I am aiming for an OK performance during the day, and a better viewing experience at night.
The projector calculator tells me that a fairly high zoom and projector placement at ~11'7'' from the screen will give me the desired image size at an image brightness around 18 fL. I am wondering if that is a reasonable setup? I read that movie theatres fall into 12-22 range. Will I be able to see anything at all during the day or should I better move the projector closer to the screen?
I am planning to paint the screen, most likely trying the Silver Fire mix. I was thinking about SF 3.0. Would that work here, or should I go even higher? What would give a good tradeoff between daytime/nighttime viewing? Really, any advice would help, I have not much experience painting but there is so much great advice on this forum that I feel I am up for the task.
