I'd like to get some real world answers to what the PS4 currently can and can't do compared to the PS3 ONLY. This is not a opinion or bashing thread, just an objective feature by feature thread that we can list of stuff going on. I'll start...

Anyone posting pleae make sure you are stating FACTS by testing it yourself not that you heard you brothers friends uncle said the ps4 cant do this or that.

Pulse Elite does work by plugging it into the controller, but the USB dongle does not work. Keeps showing up as unrecognized device. Personally I'd like my dongle back up and running wink.gif with that you get volume control and mute on the headset. Through the controller you have to go into the PS menus. It will be a nice option if/when the dongle works and my headset dies, can just plug in and not worry about charging.

DLNA would be nice to have sooner rather than later.

True, but I imagine you still need to power the transmitter by plugging it into a USB port somewhere? That sounds like a PITA, but at least there's a workaround.  It's their flagship gaming headset, I'm sure they'll get native support eventually.

I'd personally prefer if they supported direct SMB networking instead of DLNA, I always have issues getting stuff to work properly over DLNA.

Harmony BT remote

To the OP: thanks for starting this thread. I hope you continue to update the OP and keep the post as a master list. Better yet would be to also update as these things are (likely inevitably) all added. E.g. They've already confirmed MP3 and dlna is coming.

We cut the cord and invested in Playon, which us DLNA heavy. Still have PS3s for it so not huge but would be nice to have.

Also, technically external drives DO work; but the only thing you can do with them ATM is backup save game data since there's no way to play, move, or store on the system other media files. PS3 wasn't able to store game data externally.

Shuhei Yoshida has gone on record promising that MP3 and DLNA support will be patched in. Let’s hope he keeps it.

Add:
USB IR receiver support
HID KB / M support

I did figure out that you can see if friends are on PS3/PS4, but you have to click into their profile.

Should have something in their name like trophies have to denote the device your friends are logged on with. Trophies show the device(s) the the trophy applies to in case you haven't looked. Friends status denoted by what device would be good to know that your buddy logged in to the mobile app isn't ready to chat or okay MP.

I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to by lack of USB IR receiver support, but I can confirm that the Nyko Bluwave does not work with the PS4. For those unfamiliar with this, it's just a remote control from Nyko that includes a USB dongle. It can control just about everything on the PS3 except powering on/off and is what many of us use to teach our universal remote controls the IR codes for the PS3.

Another one... mad.gif

Ability to use and micro USB controller charging wire to charge the controller...now you HAVE to use the wire THEY supply, so those 10 Android phone wires you have sitting around to charge a host of products cannot be used to charge the controller anymore.

I haven't tried charging my controller through the actual PS4 yet, but my third party USB charger works fine using an Android cable.

I did notice that my controllers don't seem to charge when connected to my 4-port USB charger....maybe they need lots of current to themselves.

How about missing (or lack of) memory for the web browser? I loaded up about five screens last night & got the "out of memory" notice. Disappointingly just like the PS3.

My guess is the pin assignments in the wire is different so you have to use theirs...
I can't remember what brand my charger is but its some 3rd party licensed deal made to saddle up two DS3s, one each Move controller and two other USB outlets. Very possible the thing outputs the correct juice...

If I had to guess, I'd say this will be a feature that returns quickly. Microtransactions for countless silly themes? They won't pass that up.

I too like playing with different themes, although I always eventually went back to the Classic one.

You can take this off the list. I've been using a Monoprice 15' USB extension paired with a Monoprice 15' micro USB cable to charge my DualShock4. They work just fine. I'm not sure why yours wouldn't work but the problem isn't the PS4.
Same here, micro USB work fine. I would say be careful / gentle; it's very easy to damage micro USB ports with too much pressure, trying to force the connector in, or ripping it out at a odd angle.

There's no setting to choose in the sound menu for DTSMA and DTHD. You have to select bitstream while watching a movie. I think there's no higher sampling rate besides 48khz either.
PS3 supported Deep Color and x.v.Color. Pretty much all of Sonys TVs and AVRs support this EXCEPT PS4. mad.gif

Once you select bitstream in one movie it will stay set on that until you change it.
