Yeah, Matthew McConaughey just might my favorite actor these days too. Before his performance in The Lincoln Lawyer I thought McConaughey was just one more beefcake pretty boy with uncertain talents. In fact the only reason I broke a long-standing rule and watched him in The Lincoln Lawyer was that the film was based on a wonderful book by one of my favorite authors, Michael Connelly. Wow! It was a wonderful film with an equally wonderful performance by McConaughey. Everything he has done since has been stellar. To put it mildly, the guy is not afraid to take chances with the roles he takes. As noted in an earlier post, I even liked him as a contract killer in the incredibly dark and cynical Killer Joe. He is now my favorite for the Best Actor Oscar for his luminous performance in Dallas Buyers Club. I should add that his lunch meeting cameo with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street was worth the price of admission.
