Budget +/- 10K- ?
Dedicated home theater with no windows - but would still like it bright -
Could purchase right away or wait until after CES/2014?
Any opinions appreciated - Thanks,
Thanks for the suggestion - I'll research it - Seems like a new release and 4K too!
I 'wrestle' with understanding brightness requirements - room is 17' wide x 33' long - PJ hidden in ceiling soffit - Screen is neutral -
Maybe someone can answer this better than me - My screen doesn't have any gain - and if it's ultimately not bright enough, I will look at something else. I'm optimistic I'll like it - but we will see..
Hopefully it will be bright enough - seems possibly borderline. Only seeing it will be the proof either way for me..
Seems like a challenging time when you want latest technology + performance + large screen venue. With 4K and 3D as a qualifyer, many PJ's seem to be off the list so far.. Even the 1100 didn't seem that much brighter at all for the $$….
Thanks again for everyone's help,
Thanks for the clarification - you are right - I have the 720 AX100U - around 2000 advertised lumens that I always run in dynamic mode - So it sounds like I'll be making a similar judgement call related to quality vs brightness -
DJ, My room is already set up with a hidden alcove for the PJ - 21' back or so, so no chance of moving it forward - even though that sounds like a good way to make it brighter. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'll measure the screen again so I'm stating real dimensions. As I remember it, it's 176" or 179" diagonal and 13' wide. I'm pretty sure I went with 16:9 aspect, so the dimensions should reflect that. I know it fits the panansonic projection window perfectly. I can't remember if I measured the frame in the dimensions either - so need to remeasure, restate these and clarify.
The 1000 says on the sony website for screen up to 200", so I'm not so confident either way.
I'm fully baked in on location and size, etc, so no changing that.. Here's a link to the original thread build I did 6 years ago.
I've got the opportunity to get something else if I don't like the result, so one is ordered and on the way in a week or so, hopefully.
