She has come a long way.
We drove down to Laguna Seca last year for the ALMS race.
We made into a mini-vacation and she loved it.

I nearly talked her into going the Austin GP, but didn't want to force her.

I introduced racing to my wife at LS for an ALMS race and it is the only place she wants to go to for a race. I did tell her seeing an F1 and LeMans race is on my bucket list so I hope I can attend those one day.

Oh did you guys check out the Maserati commercial on the Super Bowl? Pretty cool I think.
The Maserati commercial was cool.

Anybody see the ad for the new Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman himself) movie? "Need for Speed". That ought to speak to a few of the participants in this thread. wink.gif

One of the cool things about taking a lady to LS is you can make it MORE than just going to a race.
Monterrey's waterfront and world-class aquarium is great touristy stuff....not to mention Frisco is just up the road.smile.gif

Sounds like the next logical step is a nice long weekend in Austin...wink.gif

This is a must see:

And even though this is the "longer" video its heavily edited. The freefall alone lasted 9 min and 3 sec!

If it wasn't for the Austin GP, I would have gone to Montreal by now.

Watching a GP in the flesh is something every fan should try to do at least once.wink.gif

I'm probably going this year, after all the track is just around the corner! smile.gif

Ah. Convenience is a wonderful thing. That is why I was hoping for New Jersey, but it was not to be, so Montreal here I come again.biggrin.gif

It's probably a good thing I didn't go to Montreal....
I'm sure we would have ended up in jail and my passport would have been confiscated.

Wow, does this little turbos sound different!

Kimi at Jerez last week:

More engine sounds from Jerez:

In case anyone is interested, Will Buxton is trying his hand at single seater racing.

http://floridawinterseries.com/index.html

I have not read up on this to see what the qualifications are, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun, although I suspect it is not cheap to take part. He appears to be on the very steep side of the learning curve.
Well since his lip synch career didn't take off, maybe the racing will. wink.gif

He was actually pretty good.

I am totally confused...I can't decide if this is the coolest thing ever or the worst:

LOL....yeah, that.

OTOH, the car, apparently, belongs to Miami's Lambo dealer.
As a rolling billboard, it's hard to top.
I give it a Thumbs Up for pure and unrestrained marketing cajones.wink.gif

tssss.....bernie bernie BERNIE!

he also blames Vettel's domination for the fall in TV audience... And then after 3 paragraphs:

"Ecclestone has been a forthright advocate of awarding double points at the final race of the 2014 season in Abu Dhabi and would happily extend it to the final three races of the season as a remedy for the “not unexpected” fall in television audiences."

looks like there might be another reason behind the double points than just helping Ferrari... rolleyes.gif
post #1344 of 3317
I did not realize that the idea of double points for the last three races was still in play.

http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2014/02/mercedes-backed-f1-teams-likely-to-block-double-points-move-for-final-three-races/

The shocking bit here is the idea that the Merc teams are actually said to be acting in their own self interest. That's surely never happened before. :-)

Hard to tell, but they sound a bit deeper, not that ear splitting shriek of old.

The site has live timing of Quali. Will is still bringing up the rear.

This has a ring of truth to it:

Ecclestone said of Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo: “He was talking about it and I said: ‘It is very simple why we got that rule. It is because you aren’t performing. If you were doing what you should be doing there wouldn’t be any need for it.’ He said: ‘I know, I know.’

This is interesting from Wolff:

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes motorsport director, admitted at pre-season testing in Jerez: “I think obviously the sh_tstorm we got afterwards was something not expected. Was it the right move or not? 99 per cent of our fans and spectators, and this is what counts, told us it was the wrong move."
