A little more than half of Alonso? I would not be pleased....

Lewis is substantially more as well.

Bummer, I guess I will have to plan a trip one day to go see the race back at Laguna Seca.

A trip to Road America would be great. And a lot closer than LS.

You know what I think that would work for the whole family as a road trip. The LS was just a selfish trip for the wife and I ha!

It would be really cool to see the F1 race in Austin next year, one day I will do that.

It's hard to believe any simulator could equal the amount of development of being on track.

Frankly, I think a simulator is a silly way to go about real car racing.

Slippy, you really NEED to do this....biggrin.gif

IIRC, last year's ALMS race weekend at COTA also had the WEC....that would make for a great trip right there (if they do it again in 2014).cool.gif

A simulator is just that..a simulator. Theres no equal for the real experience. Psychologically and physically a simulator has to be a poor substitute at best. Other than being a good way to learn the track I question its value at all no matter how high tech it is.

Thoughts anyone?

Absolutely they should be able to test as much as they want. There are enough teams prepared to spend money, and the poorer teams are a non-factor whether there's testing or not.

Supposedly, the idea behind simulators was to reduce the costs associated with on-track testing.
However, we have seen situations where some new-fangled part that looks good on a simulator, in fact, turns out not to work well in the real world.
Think of the money spent on something that didn't work....it can't be peanuts.eek.gif

What F1 will do about this?
I dunno.
It seems to me it is something they should think about re-visiting soon.wink.gif

I saw two C7's today just getting dinner! They are awesome looking! Detroit auto show will reveal the Z06 and possibly the new Supra!

I haven't actually seen the C7 on the road, but I have seen it at dealers.

Chevy had one on display this year at the ALMS Laguna Seca race and I got an up close view of it....sweet ride.cool.gif

If anyone wants a Sports Car with REAL Supercar performance, the C7 is easily the best buy on the planet...nothing comes close in the Bang-for-the-Buck dept.

Really looking forward to that.

Yeah, head injuries, particularly those secondary to skiing, make my blood run cold. When I read the piece about Schumacher's accident, the first thing I thought of was the death of Natasha Richardson in a skiing accident in 2009. I hope Schumacher fares better than Richardson did.

They are being cautious and quiet as to exactly what his injury was to his brain and or spine. Not exactly promising news! I am guessing either he has a small bleed going on or has some neuro deficits they will not mention at this time. Swelling is also a problem for both regions. Wishing for a complete recovery.

WOW! Anytime you hear coma and brain surgery its obviously super serious. I'm sure he has the best medical care FWIW.

Sounds worse than what I had read earlier where it was said he was in serious but not life threatening condition. Is the coma medically induced?

http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-25545993

According to this recent update, he was in a coma on arrival at the hospital.
I tried to tell you all that in my above post! It was the way it was worded. "Critical" means just that! There was no mention of "stable condition". I responded on so many of those during my time as medic. The other thing that we don't know is if he was "posturing" upon arrival. Look it up to understand the severity of this incident! Hoping for the best outcome.

Just read the coma was induced after surgery...
This is a common procedure for these types of injuries now days.

There is a lot of confusion with these reports contradicting each other by the hour.
NOW they are saying he went in to a coma rather than it being "induced."rolleyes.gif
At this point, I don't think anything is clearly established in the press....
On tv they said he was in a coma when they brought him into the hospital. They also mentioned the motorcycle accident in 2009 that caused serious back and neck injuries which I forgot about. No matter how you look at it hes in very bad shape.
