Years ago when I was flush, I very seriously considered it.
Like everything else in my life, a woman crushed the dream.biggrin.gif

smile.gif I drove a 512 Boxer once. The sound it produced is something I'll always remember.

I have seen a beautiful 512TR for sale in Newport Beach, it looked brand new! IIRC they wanted $135-$140k for the car.

Anybody remember Bob Norwood? The guy that added twin turbos and S/C to Ferrari's and other cars. That guy did some crazy ish back then and really paved the way for Exotic tuning houses today.

For sure. I was referencing the Sammy Hagar song "I cant drive 55". In the video he drives a Ferrari 512 BB.

Definitely rings a bell. The owner of the company I worked at at the time used a shop in Santa Monica, the name escapes me. He had them put 12 Weber carbs on his Countach. The acceleration of that car from 100 mph was unforgettable.

Funny story if you'll indulge me some more off topic excursions.

One day the owner and I had to go to one of our plants in San Bernadino and we took the 512. We were smoking by everyone doing 90 - 100 MPH having a great time. Of course some Smokie rolls in behind us and commands us to pull over. So, as the cop walks up to his window, my boss is on his cell phone. This is one of those early cell phones that came in a briefcase sized case. The "Mr. Important" phones.

So, my boss doesn't even roll his window down and is talking on his phone. The cop raps on his window and gives the "roll yer window down moron" gesture. My boss, with the balls of many bulls, looks at him and gives him the " give me a minute, I'm on the phone, idiot" gesture. Not to surprisingly, the cops jaw just dropped. My boss spent another 30 seconds on the phone, calmly rolled the window down, and said "can I help you, officer?" I've never seen a cop so red faced and pissed off. He wrote the ticket rather angrily and we dropped it down to about 80 mph for the rest of the trip and cracked up for the rest of the day.

"Balls of many bulls" is right.

FROM PLANET F1:

Following Ron Dennis' return to the helm at McLaren, there is speculation that Ross Brawn could soon head to Woking.

The former Mercedes team boss left the Brackley outfit at the end of last season with the intension of doing some fishing.

And there is now speculation that Brawn may yet hook one of the biggest, the McLaren team boss job.

With this week's announcement that Dennis is again in control of the Formula One team, changes are expected at McLaren and one of those is believed to be the exit of current team boss Martin Whitmarsh.

As McLaren failed to secure a single podium result in 2013, Whitmarsh's position is under increasing threat.

And according to Telegraph Sport it could be all be lining up for a major change at the top.

Although the newspaper claimed that "there will be further announcements on the leadership of the team next month, but that no-one has been sacked or made redundant" it is speculating that Brawn could be heading over.

"McLaren did not deny the reports," the newspaper stated, "but said they "would not get involved in commenting on that kind of media speculation"."

McLaren would be dumb NOT to pursue Brawn.
However, I think it will depend on when Brawn wants to end his fishing sabbatical more than anything else.

I agree...maybe a bit too much of a good thing?
To me, it screams "yes, please write that ticket, officer."

As much as I admire the upcoming Z06, if I had to choose, it would be the Viper.
I prefer its sleek lines and the interior is fantastic (particularly the GTS).

I was speaking primarily about the aesthetics of the cars.

Although the current gen is more manageable, the Viper is an old school machine, something than can kill you in a heartbeat, nothing at all like a C7.

I think both are equally able to get you into trouble faster than you could get out of it. :-)

This is true.
FWIW, I think a Viper is less forgiving than a Vette.

Fisichella and Beretta are studs.
Bruni can be good at times, but I don't think much of Malucelli.
