Converting Vhs, Mini dv tapes over to the best future media format,

Thread Starter
Hi, can anyone advise in which is the best or future media for storing old home movies such as VHS, Mini dv's and some vhs c's?
I had the idea of DVD's would be, but I do not think as much anymore. Would the DVD still be good or does anybody suggest SD cards, USB storage or maybe an external drive (concerned only because a lot of video would be stored on one device) or any other media that I am not aware of yet? All and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

I asked the same question on the DVD Recorders forum.

There were many very thorough and knowledgeable posts.

Good luck and please post what you decide to do.
