This is my first attempt at something like this so please pardon my ignorance.
The original symptoms: 37MF231D/37B (2007) originally already refurbished began taking noticeable seconds longer a few years ago to power on. More recently its been taking 4 minutes to 10 minutes to turn on so i took it apart.
I learned the stem of the problem from googling/youtube-ing which is apparently the (2?) bulging caps shown below. My question is what is all the goo that surrounds not only them but some neighboring parts--some of which are pretty far away as well. Are the orange coiled parts also damaged? Could removing that be enough of a fix so that i dont need to buy a soldering kit? Was it put there by the original refurbishers?
Any suggestions or advice is much appreciated!
