I suspect they only sell these refurbished is so they don't break the agreement with their retail sellers. The nice thing about the HK990 is the HT bypass. I stick a couple of RCA cables from my HT AVR (Yamaha RX-V3900) L/R preamp outs to the 'processor' inputs on the HK990 and use it as a power amp. But the best thing about it is the room correction - makes a nice difference in my space. Its the same ezset eq as they use on their TOTL 7550HD AVR.
