Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for PS4 - Page 6

Unnamed console cannot do 1080p @ 60 frames, see easy peasy! Funny thing is if the COD crowd dropped to 30 frames there would be riots but everything else is ok....
You know, if this gets too much press, I could see them locking the PS4 version at 30, so this won't be such a big deal. That would really suck.

I had zero interest at 30fps but at 60fps I do. It makes the gameplay feel better along with better visuals.

KZ SP was only 30 and it does look better visually than the MP, but the MP runs so smooth. If both were the same visually and running 60 frames that would have been phenomenal. Just watched a trailer for the new TR, gotta say this was a great game and I'm starting to get the itch to play it again.

It would suck. That type of stuff feels like everybody loses and each game is stifled. I really think as some good console exclusives start hitting it will lighten up. I'm not sure how hopeful I am for that though, it's the way things are now, everybody is so divided and caught up in the dichotomy.

Guys there's a live stream of TR on PS4 right now.

Title says "Tomb Raider Early"

I seriously doubt that it will drop in price as fast as you think. If you really think it will drop that fast, then just buy it from Target and keep your receipt. I'm pretty sure Target has a 90 day policy, so if it drops within 90 days you could get it adjusted. I think there is a chance it hits $39.99 at some point in the first 90 days, but $20 is a longshot. Heck, you won't even be able to buy Zumba Fitness for $20. Next-Gen games don't really need to go lower than $39.99 right now, because everything is so new, and there are so many people just picking up one of these consoles for the first time, so no real need to drop prices right away.

Zombie U for the Wii U is STILL 59.99 and that was a day 1 release game.

It hit $15 a while back online. Most Wii U games dropped like a stone in the spring when sales came up short.

I paid 10 for it on PC and would have paid more. It was a joy to play mechanically.

This guy has played it on the PS4, not to sure if he's trustworthy...

it was incredibly fluid and looked to stay at 60FPS for majority of the time.

uggggg... I'm getting tempted to blow $65 (tax) to re-play this, just out of curiosity. mad.gif

Must... resist.

I thought the same thing about the price, but then realized that there are probably many folks that never played the last gen version. Obviously they're hoping they'll get some double dips, but I doubt that's their main market. I imagine it will stay at $60 for as long as these other titles stayed at $60.

I told myself I wouldn't buy it for $60, but I keep thinking about it.... Too many games to play, though. Must. Show. Some. Restraint.

Exactly.

I think it is great we talk about the specs and differences. The talk of the story and the rest was done 11 months ago. For many of us this would be a double dip. We want to know the differences of each version and if it is worth it to us. Ridiculous to have the mentality that if the game is fun the game is fun, who cares about the specs. I knew it would be better than the PS3 version but knowing how much better helps others and myself decided if we want to double dip. 60fps versus 30fps IS a big deal to a lot of people and for some can put us over the hump and decide to buy (especially due to the genius timing of releasing the game when nothing else is coming out to quench the thirst).

Looks like the PS4 version was developed by Nixxes, while the XB1 version was developed by United Front:

Kind of where I am at. Damn it!! Don't fold. 60fps on Battlefield 4 is so buttery smooth and better than the PS3 beta i tried, it makes me want to get Tomb Raider..

I know I'd be a sucker for quite a few upgrades if they ported them over..

Damn their timing, releasing it when nothing else is coming out. Why can't I focus on my PS3 back log. Damn PS4 visuals taunting me.
I haven't played this so I'm definitely buying it. It looks incredible and from what people said about it on last Gen systems it's a must buy.

Don't do it, hold out just a bit, it will be on sale very soon even if the msrp is not lowered.

The guy that was streaming last night was saying it looked like it dropped into the mid 40's at times but appeared 60 most of the time.

He had already played the ps3 version (plat. trophy) and stated it was a great improvement but not really worth the $60 double dip.

Obviously he said for anyone that has not played it, "run out and get it".

I know this does not help holding out wink.gif but it looked great on the stream and does look like it bests the pc version (other than possible frame drops vs a high end pc). All in all... very impressive!

Holy cow is this guy tweaked and angry about this double dip:

Comparison should be an entertaining watch if he actually follows through!

Is that the Reviewtech video? Same guy ran a bunch of false rumors as fact to get clicks prior to the PS4 launch. He lost my subscription over it and this video only cemented that I made the right choice.
Yeah. He claims to have insiders, but they were apparently just trolls as they all burned him bad.

He also thinks the new consoles are low end PC parts thrown in a box.

He's already 180' on his Facebook after hearing its running at 1080P60.

Yep that's him. He's also the same person that posted a 30 min vid about how he got two defect XBone's in a row and ended up refunding the whole thing. He burns the candle at both ends for some clicks and drama! He likes to rant about stuff and I thought this one was entertaining because he goes overboard here. Sixty bucks is too much by a half and I think it's annoying, but this guy? Sheesh.

I posted this for entertainment purposes only! Just listen to the guy; that voice, full of anguish and pain because something costs 60 dollars. He expresses feeling with his voice so well he should be a movie preview voice over guy
post #174 of 348
I have watched some of his stuff and he makes valid points here and there but just like most reviewers on Ytube he bitches about almost everything non-stop, people that critical should just stop playing games period.

Did anyone here pick it up yet? I know Gamestop started selling it today. I played last gen so I think I might wait this out till a price drop, but then again I could be tempted in purchasing it soon.
Ok I talked myself into it.

I'm going to try and pick it up tomorrow, hopefully they have it.
I've talked myself into it as well. This was too good a game to pass up. Now, do I spend 60 bones and get it now or 30 and get it digitally later? I have 30 left on my PS wallet left from xmas money but I can save that...decisions.
Peeps should buy it from Target or Costco, because I believe Target will price match for 60 days, and Costco you have like 6 months, or something (although you might actually have to buy a new one somewhere else and return with your Costco receipt, which technically would be return fraud, but that's another story) like that. I wouldn't be shocked to see the game on sale for $39.99 at some point in the next 90 days, so Target is a good option. I know it sucks to have to wait till Tuesday, when GameStop has the game now, but hey... you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm going to try to wait for Redbox.
