Green Glue & Sealant Source?

I've ordered Green Glue a few times in the past from Soundproofing Company. I called and emailed during the day today but wasn't able to get anyone. Are they still in business? Where should I try next? My local Menards actually sells it by the tube but last I bought (a couple years ago) it was cheaper ordering cases and having it shipped.

Actually the last time I ordered from Soundproofing Company I got some acoustic sealant that was really lousy. It was almost impossible to get out the tube, was nearly unworkable, dried really hard and cracked after application. Sometimes the tube would spit liquid when applying and I'm pretty sure I got a bad batch. When I complained to them about it they made no attempt to fix the problem. I still have tubes of the junk sealant. I wouldn't mind finding a different source for these materials just based on this experience.

Thanks for you suggestions!

they are very much still in business if you left a number they will get back to you, It is just Ted and John manning the phones and if they are on the phone helping a customer understand how to use the products the phone rolls to their voice mail.

I haven't had any of the problems you reported with the caulk. Ever. But things happen during shipping and it could have been exposed to extreme heat/cold in transit.

Ok, I'll keep trying. What really bugged me about the caulk is that Ted told me they were having issues and complaints with it and that they switched to a different product as a result. I didn't really like getting stuck with the full bill when someone sold me bad product and knew about it.

If you have sealant you're not pleased with we'll replace it. Straightforward. Direct communication to resolve issues is always preferred.

Thanks!

I'd be pretty careful tossing accusations around here, especially with regard to Ted and John and the Soundproofing Company. They are very well-respected members of this community, and FWIW my experience is that they are two of the most honest, knowledgeable and good-hearted people I have met since I got into this hobby.

That's been my impression with them when I've spoken to them on phone in the past. That's why I'm so surprised they didn't try to fix the problem.

I did write you directly last year, citing precisely all the issues with the sealant. You responded that you had other complaints and that you switched to a different product. I wish I'd gotten an offer to replace the bad product back then- I've been very slowly using it for 'junk' applications but I think I still have 2-3 tubes left.

I'm not trying to 'flame' anyone or or 'toss accusations' I was just asking for an alternate source and mentioning a bad experience I had with a company that sells acoustic stuff on a forum about acoustic stuff. All my other experiences with them were good, btw.

Anyways, I was able to talk to John on the phone today and he did offer to sell me some new sealant for a slightly reduced price. Although I don't really think it makes up for the bad stuff I got, I'll take it since I already bought out Menards and I need the materials!

We spend hours pouring over designs to make sure people are going to get results. For free. People seem happy over the years. Seems a shame to be defined by a tube of caulk that we don't manufacture (national brand sold globally) from years ago.

What do you need, a 6-pack? A few tubes?

Hi Ted, I very much appreciate the design guides you guys offer - that's why I've bought from you in the past. I think you need to put yourself in my shoes though - I spend hundreds of hours working on a project, and when something is wrong with the materials it really throws a wrench into things and the resultant real cost can be a large multiple of the materials cost that caused it. It's not very easy on the ears to experience this and have the supplier tell you that they were aware of the issues, or say 'we didn't make the stuff'.

Anyways, I got an order placed with John today and he replaced the caulk for free and I paid the shipping. So we're back on track.

For the record, if someone has a problem with a product we refund it or replace it. Same as if UPS uses your Green Glue as a basketball. If there's a problem it's fixed. No one is asked to keep material they're not happy with.

I still Love you Ted, John helped me and provided great service. I am more than pleased with the sound proofing in my room. I just need to address the week spot my door.
