old posts are being brought back by 1 post newbies

call me observant, but seems some 2-3 year old posts are being brought back by 1 post newbies.

Can the forum software be such that to resurrect old post, past a certain time frame - older than 6 months, one needs x amount of posts, say 10-15?

Several options have been mentioned to combat this, but it's not a #1 priority given some other more pressing issues right now. I'm sure something will be implemented in the future.

I don't think it's worth being bothered about, as long as the new post is on topic. It actually helps people find answers from search engines. Remember that sometime in the future (like maybe the day after tomorrow) someone may actually be looking for that answer.

Other forums have a new member "rack - up the posts" specific thread, a single thread where all new members must post 10 times in same thread before they can post anywhere else.
Somehow their forum software counts the post in that thread then allows then free reign to post anywhere.

Keeps the 1 post wonders down, may discourage "real" people from joining among the few 1 post wonders.

I'll be curious to see what/if AVS smart programmers come up with, agree not a major issue just now, but since I took time to post here means I've noticed it across more than 1-2 of the sub forums, or I'd not be wasting my and your bandwidth.
