Question about RCA cable hookups

I have an old Roady XT that I am going to hook up again after some time. I got rid of my big Sony stereo which had plenty of auxillary jacks. I now have a small Philips stereo and it has:mad: only one auxillary jack. The RCA cable has one jack for the XM radio and two on theother end to hook to the stereo. Do you know if it still works if I only hook up one of the RCA jacks into my auxiliary input?

I've been asking all over the place and no one has an answer.

Thanks for your help. smile.gif

sure it will work but you will only hear one of the two stereo channels through your philips 'stereo'. this won't be an issue for the mono sirius channels, but could be very noticeable on the stereo channels, as i noticed this morning listening to Howie with just one earphone.

fwiw, the audio output connect on your roady-xt is not an rca, it is a 3.5mm mini-stereo.

and since the philips 'stereo' only has one RCA jack for input, it probably isn't a stereo, and is probably a mono amplifier.

cheers...

Thank you!! At least now I know. I don't know whether the Philips is mono or not, though it does have a great sound for such a little unit. I just asked my husband about this (since I hadn't gotten any helpful answers yet), and he said I could get an adaptor for the mini cable and make it work that way. If that's correct.

Anyway, thanks again. I can now move forward with my XM project. smile.gif
