Looking for a good USB mic to use on a windows machine with HDMI and no fancy sound card. Trying to stay around $100 or less.
I've been reading about the MiniDSP UMIK-1 and the Dayton UMM-6. Which of these two would be recommended with the current version of REW? Or maybe you can suggest another for someone new to REW.

You can get either one of those from Cross Spectrum labs with a true individual calibration: http://www.cross-spectrum.com/
The calibration files that come from the factory aren't terrible, but it's not much of a price increase for a decent jump in measurement reliability with the better calibration from CSL.

Note that Herb at CSL no longer ships the UMM-6 internationally as he had too many break in transit and which had to be returned. I believe, BICBW, that he still ships the UMIK-1 internationally.

I recently got a UMIK-1 from MiniDSP and it's adequate for me so far. I think this product is a common OEM product. I have seen it branded by other companies as well.
1 w/o a cal file bought in mid-2008, then 2nd from Herb at CSL bought late 2010 .... kinda getting tired of the whole mobile-pre & loopback thing when doing measurements, so possible time for me to get a USB mic, ha my 3rd mic.

Small-diaphragm omni with ultra-flat response!
The Behringer ECM8000 is a microphone with linear frequency response and and omnidirectional polar pattern that allow you to carry out measurement and alignment tasks with minimum hassle and maximum precision. The ECM8000 mic is a perfect complement for any realtime analyzer. It operates on 15-48V phantom power and its rugged construction ensures years of trouble-free use.
Professional Tip: The Behringer ECM8000 also makes an amazingly good acoustic guitar and vocal microphone!
I just sent Herb @ CSL a note, asking him if he give price breaks on repeat customers....as I've officially got tired of the "extra analog gear" and want a USB Mic...
after all time is precious come nights/weekends.....
There are two issues we have discovered with the UMM-6:
• The UMM-6 microphone has a relatively high noise floor of about 53 dB, compared to a noise floor of 30-40 dBA for the ECM8000 and EMM-6. This noise floor can cause issues with distortion measurements or measurements of quiet sources.
• The microphone may not work properly with software that expects the input device and output device to share the same clock source (for example, ARTA has issues when averaging multiple measurements with the UMM-6).
