Surround left and right speakers working, but weak in the ps4

I don't have this problem with my receiver with the ps3 or the wiiu, but with the ps4. It is connected to the receiver through hdmi and have tried all output settings. The problem is in bf4, noises that should clearly come from the back are not doing so and when I circle around my pov, the sounds just don't pop to the sl and sr speakers. Audio IS coming through them, just not the way I'm accustomed to, I.e. It's pretty damn subtle. Anyone else have this problem? Afd is set to pro logic ii

BF4 no problems with sound in fact very good surround especiaaly from the rear surrounds.

Marantz 8801

Paradigm speakers 5.1 set up.

Panasonic VT60

Redmere HDMI

Why are you using Pro-logic II for movies?

You shouldn't be using Dolby Prologic II, unless your receiver is so old it doesn't have DTS or Dolby Digital AC3.

What is your receiver and method of connecting between the PS4 and the receiver?

I have a Sony  STR 810 that is hooked up to the PlayStation through HDMI. Then I connect to the TV through an HDMI from the receiver. I have 5 speakers set up. I dont know if it has DTS or DDAC3. I'm not an audiphile, I really simply want to hear things that are in my back sound from my back speakers, and this works well with my PS3 and even my WiiU with the exact same setup. I am beginning to wonder if it is the HDMI cable from the PS4 or something...

Here's the options on your model.

Dolby® TrueHD, DTS-HD™ Master Audio decoding, Pro Logic® IIz, and Digital Cinema Sound processing.

Might check which HDMI port is assigned to the PS4 because you should be getting some Dolby variant.

Do you have an A.F.D. Standard setting on the receiver? Cycle through your sound modes until you get to something like that. Having owned a Sony reciever previously, I recall that you want to select either A.F.D. Standard or A.F.D. Multi (I think that's what it was called) to get full surround sound. Your PS4 is sending your receiver PCM, which is what you want. For games, you won't see the Dolby Digital or DTS light lit up for that reason.

Also, what are your audio settings in Battlefield 4? Make sure that "Surround" is activated in the audio options menu for the game.

AFD auto chooses to output only to the front speakers. I was able to get some surround action from the ps4 playing with the speaker levels and such a bit, but it pales in comparison to the dd 3/2.1 I get from the ps3. I'm very confused and frustrated.

And bf4 is set to home cinema/surround.

Sweet! Somewhere between despair I was able to fix it! A combination of tears, rebooting the system and playing with the hdmi settings yielded dts 3/2.1 woot!
