It doesn't cause anyone irreparable harm to point out to the OP that there's no inherent superiority to a floor stander versus sub/bookshelf arrangement, nor will the sky fall if it's pointed out to him that if he does use subs that there's no benefit to be gained with floor standers over book shelves. If he already knows that, fine.
It's like when a restaurant patron asks the waiter for the fish on the menu, and the waiter tells the patron he recommends a steak instead. Is the waiter doing the customer a disservice? Not if he knows that the fish is spoiled and the steak is fresh.
If, after pointing out why he steered the customer away from the fish, the customer still wanted the fish the waiter should then take the order and bite his tongue before offering any more helpful advice.
