DAC into TV Optical Out Sound Quality

I wonder if there are is any Quality loss if i connect my DAC to me TV instead of the PS3.

Here the setup.

DAC + AMP:  Fiio e9k+e17

PS3

Sony HX 755 TV.

1: I connect the DAC to the Tv via Optical cable. In the PS3 Audio settings i choose HDMi. I Capture the Audio via the optical out on  my Tv.

2: I connect the DAC directly to the Optical out of the PS3. In the PS3 Audio settings i choose Optical.

Which of the above is the best for Stereo PCM? Do they perform equally?

In another Setup i use a PS2. The PS2 is connected to the TV via Component cables.

1: When I connect the DAC via Optical with the TV, i get  bad Sound Quality.

2: If i connect the DAC directly with the Optical Out of the PS2, i get better Sound Quality

Could it be that Component cables are inferior to HDMi when it comes to audio?

For practical purposes, they are the same as long as you stick to stereo.

Please stop. Up won't get you responses. In fact, it may discourage them.

Instead of asking others what you might hear why don't you plant your butt in front of the tv and find out what you hear?

Let us know what differences you hear - or not.

Your butt? oh man... not worth it

Anyway i can not do a simultaneous hearing betwwen both options so comparing them will be quite a problem.

I could try the first setup and reconfigure everything to try the second. However it takes time and you can not pinpoint any fine differences between those two anymore.

Anyway, if you can not provide a satisfactory answer to my question, why do you even bother?

Here's the deal. Test it yourself. If there's a difference that matters to you, you'll hear it. If there isn't, you'll figure that out, too. Meanwhile, someone has already weighed in with an outside opinion and your constant bumps are kind of rude.

The whole idea of my post was that you should try the combinations you are interested in listening to. Anyone that has tried a particular combination might think its the best sound ever. Someone else might listen to it and think it sounds like crap. In the end all that matters is what you like best.

At any rate I was attempting to be humorous. Sorry it flew over your head.
