Okay so I did the factory reset and initially it seemed to be working as I was able to switch back and forth between BD & DTV but sadly as I decided to start reviewing some of the difficult 3D movies I had a very frustrating evening and had to give up. So no
it doesn't resolve the switching issue. And on top of that after acquiescing to the workaround unplugging procedure, I finally got the Oppo and 57 talking where it clearly displayed "1080p24 FP" but now
I can't get the 57 to turn on the 3D IR emitter at all!
I hope the reset didn't "F" me somehow but no matter what I tried it will just not turn on
... so I gave up!
Manni I also removed the PJACK (actually remember now it's called "PJREQ" in iRule and initially was excited that it still worked with the keep alive every 3sec! However that too ended up a frustrating outcome. It appears they no longer close the telnet port every 5 seconds but now something else is going on where at some unknown predetermined time it closes or times out. I have to keep going out of the custom panel and back in to reactivate the port (Ugh!… two words for JVC engineering… Regression testing!). It's too bad too Manni cause at first I was releived and excited to find it seemingly worked. Maybe we can get some details on this from GaryB (hint, hint… nudge, nudge…
) If it can't be fixed I may just add an "Open" button on the JVC PJ page to hard send the 'PJREQ' command at will.
However I did spend a good portion of the afternoon analyzing one of my FAV 2013 reference discs (Star Trek: Into Darkness) and there a few excellent scenes to check out how these new features perform (excellently I might add… the more I spend time with this machine, frustrating resolution prob's notwithstanding, the more I love
how immersive the image is).
If interested check out some of these excellent scenes:
1) Great close-up scene in a dark bar for Clear Black with Darblet integration - marker 19:30
for facial detail inspection try Darbee @ 25% & ClBk=Low vs. 10% & ClBk=High
2) Entry into planet Kronos - marker 46min
. For great cloud shadow detail and reviewing DI (look at Spok's face Half in the dark) and great low APL fast moving scenes (which the 57 did very well IMO).
3) Entering Jupiter air space - marker 1hr 6min
Excellent for switching between DI's as the ship comes out of deep space and the bright planet comes into view and then as the ship hovers over the construction hanger with an above shot looking down into a star filled space.
Next up will be Pacific Rim (and hopefully 3D if I can ever figure out why the transmitter will not turn on since I had it working prior to the factory reset!).
