That's UXL drivers numbers 37-40 gone to Gorilla83!

I will continue to post updates in this thread and post #2 as well.

If anyone adds a post saying they want one for sure, if available, I will add them as alternates in the order they have posted.

Sir, you are first alternate for one! (you still do have one at $410!...just to confirm:D)

Will add the second if available.

Awesome guys!

It is nice to see the excitement and enthusiasm for more woofage!

Great idea on the group buy! I would have bitten if I just didn't get a new driver 10 days ago.

Congrats to those participating and the great price!

Hey, thx Spider!

Not bad, eh? Forty of these drivers sold in less than a week!!!

Mark has a great opportunity to get his product out to even more people who can write about their experiences with it/them in these forums...ball is in his court now, eh?

I am trying to finalize payment info with him right now.

Blah,

Looks like I missed the boat. But if someone does drop out, or if Mark allows for more, please put me down for two.

Roger that...if my math is correct...that would make you driver # 43 and 44.

Thank you. biggrin.gif

Thx, Archaea!
We had some nice discussions about the UXL.

Blah, I know I have been on the fence for some time, I'm in for 4 if Mark can make them.

Here's hoping there will be more subjective opinions on the UXL-18 in a few months.

And great work on the group buy blah!

I'm 5-6 hours until I'm home and am on cell phone typing with thumbs.....so please bare with me!

Being a Velodyne DD owner for many years, felt there was no other product could best the sound quality until I heard the LMS-U's! For six months I planned on using 4 LMS-U's in my build, until AVS member invited me to hear his dual Orbital Shifters. After that session, there was no doubt in my mind the OS was the BEST implementation I ever heard!! Problem was........there was no way I could fit dual OS's so I purchased an S2 sight unseen. Now that I have the S2, I feel it is very similar to the LMS-U but with more heft!

Respected AVS member Bassobass has stated the UXL is essentially the same as the LMS-U but at half the price........scientific measurements state so.

In regards to purchasing equipment sight unseen, I strongly suggest against that......but there are circumstances that dictate so. Heck, if I hadn't heard Noesis 212, I might have owned LCR's.........but after listening to them, I knew Triad was better for my tastes.

LMS-U's are the finest sounding drivers I've heard sealed and can say my S2 is very close in quality but has more output!

Once again, if Bassobass believes the UXL has essentially the same measured frequency response and distortion as the LMS-U..........how can you disagree with that?

BTW blah, I'll be home in 5-6 hours and will respond to my pm's. Took me close to an hour to type this on phone......crashes and my thumbs are not fast........besides, have to get to gate!

Copy that, H8.

Right now, that puts you at driver alternate numbers 45, 46, 47, and 48.
Will keep you posted.biggrin.gif

Any guesses as to how much profit per sub he will get?  At $100/sub that is a pretty quick $4000 in the bank account :)

Congrats everyone!  I have been jealously watching this thread since it opened and am curious how these pan out in the real world.

Well said post above.
Safe flight to you.
Check your PMs later.
We are in a hold pattern for the moment while Mark and I hammer out payment details.

At $410 shipped Mark is probably making less then $100 per driver! Honestly the group thing is probably just good publicity to get some more word out on the UXL-18 driver. I mean I know its been around for a while but most of the DIY talk seems to be about the SI 18's and Daytona 18's.

Haha..... I knew one of the better known diy ers was holding out. Gorilla.... 36-40. Congrats man! Whats the plan with your Daytons?

Blah- good work.

What are Marks plans for staring production? Is he waiting to start until all payments are in, which seems would be mid february? Are orderers being filled in order of payment received or order placed or ??

Yeah...Rilla rounded out the order...and we even have 8 drivers on the alternates/overrun list.
Thanks for the "thumbs-ups" and props from everyone...much appreciated.

pdx...you have a PM, sir.

As far as production and payment details...Mark emailed me early this morning and then I replied at about 9:30AM...just waiting to hear back from him...and hopefully this next phase will be a lot more clear.

Any updates about this will not only be posted, but also PMed to each of you.
I, of course, have PMed everyone with a driver commitment my contact info.

Thanks once again for everyone's support. I am glad everyone involved, and Mark, has this opportunity.

Is Mark wanting to limit the number of drivers sold for this Group Buy strictly to 40 units?

Seems like typical GB's there is a cut off date and a minimum quantity. Is he doing this as more of a favor for the community? Or is he wanting to sell a lot of drivers?

It sounded like he could only commit to a group sized 40-60 and that anymore wasn't possible. That was my take. I know IST is a small company so I'm sure it's a lot of work doing that many drivers at one time.
AFAIK Mark assembles the drivers one by one, ..... himself.

Pacific NW People - we need eight to get a pallet shipped and receive further discount. I'm in Portland, OR. 97225.

If you are close and want to discuss logistics PM me and we can see if we can work it out.

I've made it known to Mark that I can pickup at the terminal which should bring even more savings.

Man, I wish I had a plan for what I'm going to do with the Daytons or even the UXLs, LOL. The price/opportunity seems right although it does seem a bit crazy having 8 HO's, 4 SI's and 2 x DTS-10s in the house already. tongue.gif Ultimately I'd like to build out a few Ghorns though.
