Meet Scott and Mark at CES 2014

I know that many AVS members would love to attend the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV, but few actually have the opportunity to do so. To help slake the unending thirst for AV news, Mark Henninger and I will be there to cover as much audio/video news as we possibly can and share it with the AVS community.

For AVS members lucky enough to be attending CES 2014, Mark and I would love to meet you in person! We've set aside some time on Tuesday and Wednesday, so if you find yourself near one of these locations, please stop by and say hello!

Tuesday, January 7, 3:00 PM

LVCC, Meeting Room N261, above North Hall

I'm moderating a panel called "Headphones, Soundbars, and the Rebirth of High Fidelity" from 2:00-3:00 PM in this room, and both Mark and I will hang out there after the panel. (You might be interested in the panel itself, which will include Andrew Jones from Pioneer, Andrew Sivori from Sony, Vickie Nauman from 7digital, and Lan Kennedy-Davis from Soul Electronics.)

Wednesday, January 8, 2:00 PM

Mark: Venetian Hotel, 29th floor central hub/elevator lobby

Scott: LVCC, outside Meeting Room N217, above Central Hall 5 Lobby

We don't yet know where we'll be on Thursday, but if you follow AVS on Twitter (@AVSforum), we'll post where we'll be when, so hopefully, we can meet some of you then.

It's going to be an amazing show, and we look forward to sharing it all with you. And if you're going to be there, we hope to meet up and say hello in person!

Good question; I'll find out. It's being produced by CEA, not TWiT, so I have no direct connection to the distribution.

thank you Scott for any upcoming news.

I will be there Scott to hear your panel. I fear it should be called "Headphones, Soundbars, and the Death of High Fidelity" Music being mostly sold as MP3, streaming movies could kill or severely cripple Blu-ray as predicted by Leo Laporte.

My New Years wish is the coming release of Pink Floyd SACD of "The Wall" to go along with my "Dark Side of The Moon" & "Wish You were Here" buying SACD as fast as I can before they are gone.

dargo is correct, CES is not open to the public. If you're not already in "the business," the best way in is if you have a relationship with a dealer/retailer, they might be able to get you in under their name.

Sweet! I hope to meet up with you guys at the show. I won't be getting to Vegas until Wednesday though and probably not able to get around until the early afternoon.

Wish I could make it out this year fellas, but it's just not in the cards this go around.

I'm looking forward to meeting you one day soon Scott. See you in a few weeks Mark!

That's cool, I'll be at the Venetian for most of the day Wednesday as well as Thursday.

I would be great to meet up in Vegas, maybe next year. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of mayhem you guys have planned at the gtg.

I'm headed to the airport tomorrow night. Done CEDIA lots, but first time at CES.

Do we not do an AVS party at CES, like we do CEDIA?
I attended the party 2 years ago, I'll be hitting Vegas Sunday afternoon...

There used to be AVS parties at CES and now it doesn't seem like there are anymore. That bums me out greatly as I missed all the previous ones. frown.gif I guess I always miss the first two days of CES anyway. tongue.gif

Scott/Mark - Will definitely try to make it by the discussion you're moderating.  Would be great to meet some of the AVS staff face-to-face.  My company, Zen Electronics, is currently in talks with Connor regarding advertising/sponsorship on AVS and it would be great to actually meet some of the AVS staff.

Just as an FYI.......My company will also also be taking requests from any AVS Forum members that won't be at the show and want to see something specific.  Just send us a PM and we'll try to post the information/photo releated to the new product you're interested in.

Joe

Proof that I just bumped into Mark at the Panasonic "Beyond Plasma Display" demo:

Both Mark and I were very interested in their comparison of the ZT60 to their new 2014 4K LED/LCD as well as last years 4K LED/LCD. Definitely some big improvements over their 2013 4K LED but they have not surpassed the ZT by anyone's account.

Would have liked to have seen Scott's panel while here at CES but like everything else in Vegas there is a extra charge to get in the panel and had to keep out as I feel charging extra is just wrong. I'm sure Scott had no idea of the extra charge being on the panel, only hope someone recorded it.

Didn't make it to the show today as our plane was delayed for hours. I'll be at the convention center tomorrow.
