Audio from TV gains/loses intensity on its own

I have a Denon 1712 hooked up to my TV receiving OTA broadcast channels. While watching football today I noticed the sound intensity from the speakers would sporadically change intensity. I thought it was the receiver going in and out and just letting me hear the TV speaker volume momentarily so I turned the TV volume all the way down and discovered the receiver is not cutting out. The effect I am trying to describe is like I am literally turning off the larger Polk speakers and playing the audio through my old smaller Bose computer speakers or quickly adjusting the volume down on the speakers. It comes back pretty quickly but it is bothersome. I thought it may be an antenna reception issue so I moved it to a better location and discovered the problem still persists.

I am hoping to find out if this is a reception, wiring, speaker, receiver or system setting issue so I can get it fixed. Thanks for the help.

I have listened to it more closely since my post and it sounds like the audio is switching from playing out of my left, right and center speaker to just the center speaker. The speakers are brand new Polk 45bs and a 15c is it makes a difference.

More than likely you have enabled Audyssey Dynamic Volume which normalizes the audio so set that to OFF or a lower setting.
