I just got the SVS email too and now I'm thinking of upgrading my new pb1000 to the sb2000. That response is absolutely fantastic!!!!!! I'll call them to see what Id have to do. A guy would be a fool to not upgrade for any of their new stuff. Holy Cow, I get it now how once a SVS owner always a SVS owner. I love it!!! I about spilt my morning coffee!!!
I'm curious to see what the price on the PB-2000 will be in Canada (at sonicboomaudio.com). Duals w/ a miniDSP might just be the next stop on my subwoofer journey...
I cant wait to see how the output compares to the xv15/vtf3/lfm1-ex. If the pb2000 closes the gap, that will make it arguably the best(home theater) id sub under $800.
Just completed my upgrade/purchase from pb to the sb2000. Super excited and SVS continues to remind us happy customers why we chose them to begin with. Wasn't even a second thought for me. Thanks SVS!!!

Just ordered mine, too. I picked up an SB12-NSD about 40 days ago, so SVS was happy to let me return the sb12 without shipping and pick up a SB-2000.
I loved the SB12, but my room is pretty large for it (4500'). The 14" footprint keeps the wife happy, and it has PLENTY of punch for my tastes. Can't wait for the extra power in the sb2000! I'll report back in a month or so after it's broken in. Woo-hoo!!!
They look good, but nothing fantastic to my eyes. About what you would expect for the price. The PB seems like a worthy competitor to the xv15. Glad to see something new fill the $600-$1000 spot, but I'm not selling what I have to get one.
Yup. I used to have a single, 325W (BASH) PB12-NSD and it was a really solid sub in my room. Dual 500W PB-2000s tuned to 17Hz should be pretty damned impressive.
I'd really like dual FV15HPs, but the price + shipping to my house + currency conversion (+ taxes) makes them too expensive for my comfort.
That leaves the XV15 and the VTF-15H. Both would have great output, but the VTF's tuning option would let me finally get below the 17Hz I get with my Chase subs (and the 18Hz I got with my single PB12-NSD).
But shipping + currency conversion (+ taxes) would make both options more costly than dual PB-2000s.
Anyway, it's just a happy contemplation at this time...
Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a placement issue, or just that the ~3,400 cu.ft. room is too big to provide the cabin gain I would need to get down to 15Hz (or lower). A couple of posts of Bill Fitzmaurice's that I've read have me thinking that's the more-likely reason.
I currently have an Energy 10.3 sub - I may just get get the SB2000 to replace it. I like the small footprint, since I can just do a straight swap, without re-arranging any of my existing equipment/furniture.
Really interested to see some of the reviews start rolling in on these. Would love to see one compared to it's price twin the PSA XV15 as that is what I have been eying.

As you already know, Bill always recommends spreading the sub out as far as possible with one up front and another in the back. Have you or is it possible for you to try this position? My subs are currently positioned up front like yours and they sound great there but I just bought a 25' sub cable to try one in the back room as Bill suggested to see. I am waiting for my UMIK-1 to be here mid Jan to see the response graphs between the two subs positions.
I haven't spread them out in the room, no, but I thought spreading them out had more to do with addressing peaks and nulls than it did with increasing or maximizing extension. I'm good and flat to ~17Hz and then it drops off, very much like my PB12-NSD used to drop off below ~18Hz.
I'll start a separate thread on this, so as not to take this thread off point.

If you want to get below 15Hz with authority and the native response of the sub doesn't go that low on its own then you need for cabin gain to commence no lower than 25Hz or so. That calls for a maximum room dimension of perhaps 20 feet. OTOH IMO response much below 20Hz is as useful as having a TV screen that works well in the infra-red.

+1. Spreading them out doesn't make the room any smaller.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
