This is my preference, and how it is with my nit-picking ears
The Cambridge S30 has more detail and definition in the midrange and treble over the HTD Level
Two and Three bookshelf speakers - and The Cambridge bass is more tight and controlled.
The JBL Studio 5 is in another league over the Cambridge speakers - more smooth, clean and
refined, with much better detail, definition and depth - with a big spacious soundstage, and with
good deep rich bass, that is tight and articulate. The JBL is also strong with good dynamics.
Also, I prefer JBL over Klipsch Reference - JBL Studio again, has better detail and definition, and
is more smooth and refined while still being dynamic.
This would be my preference for a $1200 budget - and it will seem strange to some people.
however, if you can get a good deal on what you listed - then that may be best for you.
JBL Studio 530
JBL Studio 520
JBL Studio 130 for surrounds
Then save for a sub
However, if you want towers
JBL Studio 570
With the center linked above
Your call - you could be real happy with Energy, Klipsch, HTD or Cambridge.
