I'm in the industry and have been a network engineer for many years. I have built many computers. I have also purchased 2 Assassin systems. Most importantly I've dealt with many customers like yourself and it pains me to see it every time because at the end of the day any idiot with a laptop can post negative things.
I was going to stay on the sideline here as I lurk mostly and don't post very often. However, I will weigh in on this for what its worth.
You have not given any indication of anything that actually wasn't setup or wrong or performing except for vague references of not being happy or promises that were not made which immediately makes me not believe an ounce of what you're saying. Nor did you give any explanation of why you did not try to skype or call them. It seems odd if this was so important and was the system was so dysfunctional that you would go 12 days without thinking about it or following up with them when they were going to remote in.
I have purchased 2 systems from Assassin. My living room and my basement theatre htpc's. I purchased the full setup on both because honestly its not worth my time when I can have someone do it for me. While there were some very minor thing I had to do (screen scaling, etc). Which were explained in the desktop guides (I actually never read them but just went back and opened them to confirm it was there and it was) , The systems showed up pretty much as expected. and it was a no brainer paying the extra $120 or so to have them do this.
I spoke with them live both times before I ordered it as I never buy anything online without speaking with someone.
Both times i was impressed with the service. not once did I have to do any actual software setup including codecs, filters, skins, etc. It was already done for me. I have a very hard time believe you somehow didn't get the same setup as I did. I think I have to agree however that you might just not know what you are talking about. Htpc's are not Sony blu-ray players or xbox's.
I would gladly (and will most likely again in the future) purchase from them again.
5 posts total from you on this forum. And only just on this topic. And honestly none of them are doing you any favors. Each one is just making you seem more ignorant, suspicious and untruthful.
A part of me is wondering if there will be a "Mark38-HTPC company" that is behind the scenes of this.
If anyone reading these had an ounce of intelligence in them they would see your rants for what they are.
Assassin, from one very satisfied customer. Keep up the good work. You are a great asset to the community, both AVS and htpc alike. I know that if any of your other customers were reading this they'd probably join in too but they are probably too busy enjoying their already setup HTPC to be scouring Audio Video forums!Edited by redscare24 - 1/9/14 at 5:49pm
