Vizio's entire lineup was revamped for 2014 and at the top of the heap is the new 120" UHDTV featuring Dolby Vision, a 10-bit panel and a 960Hz refresh rate. It is—without question—the most impressive TV at the show. This is not the Vizio of a few years ago—the Hyundai of the TV world offering good performance and value. The new 120" Reference Series sets the standard for a high-style, high-performance flagship big-screen TV.
The video I saw took on the illusion of 3D even though none of Vizio's 2014 lineup supports 3D anymore. The illusion of depth comes from the crispy contrast and rich colors that the 10-bit panel puts out. With a refresh rate of 960Hz, there is no need to use motion interpolation in order to preserve motion resolution, which should please videophile purists. The new king of big screen UHDTVs also features an integrated high-performance sound system that includes a wireless subwoofer. The fit, finish and look of the entire system was first-class and would not look out-of-place in a billionaire's mansion or mega-yacht. Yet, Vizio plans to stick to its roots and pricing on all of its new products should continue the companies tradition of offering high performance and a (comparatively) affordable price. Vizio expects to ship its new flagship UHDTV in the latter half of 2014.
