Following my filling out their on-line form, I was contacted shortly thereafter. I was given payment options and completed the order for a TC-P65VT60. I didn't have a warm fuzzy feeling either and let the fact that AVS and CNET had them advertising on their websites influence my decision to check them out further. Their website stated free shipping with White Glove delivery on orders above 4 or 5 hundred dollars. They've been in business since '96 and upon further checking found they've only had one complaint filled w/the BBB. My final price with 5 year in-home warranty was just over $1700. All things considered I decided to take a chance on them. I was contacted today apologizing for the delay, that it was their busiest week of the year and they were waiting for confirmation from the Shipper (which is about 100 miles from my location). I was going to give a full update once I received the set, but there seamed to be questions/concerns before that came about. I know I have taken a chance and may have to deal a rough situation...or saved $800 and be as happy as the other Panny owners reading this. The next day, Amazon went up to $3599 on that unit. I'll keep you posted, regardless.
Wait, a 65" VT for $1700, shipped with 5 year warranty? Do you have their number? This seems far closer to what the price would be for a 60" VT, a 65" is unbelievable.
EDIT, in doing a little digging, there is a post from another forum member back in October that was looking at buying a 65" VT from them for $1850, the same price currently listed. (http://www.avsforum.com/t/1386054/sharp-80-pricing/1500
) Supposedly they highly encouraged bank transfer, and stopped communication when he insisted on a credit card. It matches the story listed on the BBB complaints page http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/electronic-equipment-and-supplies-dealers/starbrige-international-in-bellevue-wa-22828064/complaints
Also, not calling you out hairy48, but it almost seems like you're advertising for them. Did you actually check any of the information you listed above, or just copy it from their website? It looks like they actually have 2 complaints from the BBB.I mean, everything I've researched screams scam, the largest of course being the price. Amazon didn't feel good about pricematching the 65" VT for $2000, and toplinetvs have been selling it for months at $1850?
Here is a google earth of their office: https://www.google.com/maps/preview/place/347+Keystone+Ave+Coupeville,+firstname.lastname@example.org,-122.6342978,161m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x548ff391f3edf6cd:0x6fda3c6930d103e9
I guess it could be an office in the middle of the San Juans. Like, that's a beachfront home... Also I don't think the Whidbey Island area code is 425, however it does match their second address in Bellevue: https://www.google.com/maps/preview/place/1320+142nd+Pl+SE,+Bellevue,+WAemail@example.com,-122.149978,3a,90y,103h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sfpdR35zXzK31x0QHpUQDXw!2e0!4m2!3m1!1s0x54906c3be997c851:0xae4adf564e592a8b!6m1!1e1
Beyond that, I can't really find any other record of them anywhere.
Finally, where exactly do you see them as a sponsoring dealer? They certainly are not a sponsor on this forum. Perhaps you have some sort of malware that is creating an ad?
So best case, hairy you should contact your financial institution and try to recover your $1700, and worst case, you're fishing for new victims. I would also edit your posts so that nobody mistakenly ends up "purchasing" anything from them based on your posts.Edited by mikelz85 - 1/25/14 at 9:34pm
