Ditch Epik Empire for two Rythmic subs?

With Epik officially going belly up, and to temper my insatiable appetite for an upgrade, I’m thinking about selling my Empire and replacing it with two different size Rythmic subs. I could go with matching F12s but I worry that I’d be losing output coming from two 15” woofers. I could fit a FV15 where the Empire sits today, which is near field next to my sofa, and a F12 upfront next to my Sierra towers.

I know this is very subjective question, but do you think dual Rythmic subs will provide a better overall experience (output and sonically) than my single Empire? I have a Denon 4311 so both subs will receive proper calibration.

Usually best to get two matching subs rather than two differing in performance. Regardless if one will be near field or not.
Rythmik provides a nice product along with several other ID companies. I own a Rythmik and have been quite pleased with it.
If you can't afford dual FVHP15 go for dual FV15.

Best Regards

A single FV15HP easily bests the Empire in almost every frequency as it should given it costs substantially more. You can check out the measurements of both subs at data-bass.com.

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried accessing the website but Google Chrome can't connect to it for some reason. Will try again later. Would love to check out some ratings and specs.

The 2 rhythmic subs will outdo a single empire. No doubt. After selling the empire, I would get the FV15HP and see how it sounds. It may be enough to satiate you. If you still want more, then consider adding a second sub.

If you want 2 non matching subs, why are you selling the empire? You won't buy a better sub for what you'll get for it. Why not just add a second sub?

You may also want to look at PSA subs. Like dual XS30s or 1 XS30 and 1 XS15 or dual XS15s.

btw the FV15 is no longer available.

That's a great question. It really boils down to getting rid of the Empire while it's still working. If/when the amp dies the resale value will be equivalent to a pack of gum, and I'm not inclined to go down the DIY amp route since it requires some soldering, etc. Who am I kidding? It's a case of upgraditis smile.gif.

I think a single FV15HP is a great option. But, if you want to save a little money I agree with flick and suggest you consider the PSA subs.
