Hey guys. Time to resurrect this thread. I'm back from vacation, and Menards has 4'x4' MDF panels on sale. I believe I can build 2 standard Martysubs (48" long) with 7 panels. I'm leaning towards that just because it involves less cutting. Still no objection with full length Martys that point up towards my ceiling behind the screen? They're going to be sitting on support braces I plan to install about 18" off the ground to maintain space behind my cabinet doors for storage. This puts the driver height about 6" below the top of the screen. If I do the shorter Martys it lands the drivers about 14" below the top of the screen, but all the feedback I've gotten on here says that doesn't matter at all. If that's the case, then I'm going to build whatever I can build the fastest.
Any recommendations for speaker connections? I'll be putting them on the back panels, and I'd like them recessed so I can place them pretty much anywhere I want without ruining the speaker wire. Are the Speakon connections THAT much better? I ask because I have a pile of solid metal banana ends I got on sale at Monoprice awhile back.
Early on in this thread someone said I could say thank you for the help by posting many pictures through the process. Well here's the start:
