I think people don't like the autocal feature because it is only designed to recalibrate the projector back to the original color profiles. I can't use it for your own specific calibration (for example if you want to target the REC709 perfectly). I would say that's not an issue if you have the X700 model since the THX profile is so close to REC709 that there's no real need to change anything, but with my RS4910 I think I'll be better off with specific software.
Anyway, I ordered the i1 Display Pro so we'll be able to share our thoughts once we have it
I just tried yesterday the autocal feature.
The software is very easy to use, you only have to place the sypder close to the screen, facing the projector.
Then you launch the calibration, and the projector sent many color and gray pattern to calibrate the gamma and the color.
Then you can directly see the results compare to the ideal curves on the laptop.
And finally you press save, and the data are sent to the projector.
I thought, whaou, that's a really nice tool... But then I looked at the setting of the projector (user1 in my case), and nothing has changed (all cursors at 0 for color and gamma..)
It looks like nothing as been imported to the projector. I tried several rimes, and always the same thing.
I don't know if I missed something, but it sems that nothing is sent to the projector (or maybe it changed the factory settings, so I can't see it... But I have some doubts)
I don't know if someone here has already use the tool and could help me.
Do you think I could get some support byJVC?
