plugging in digital keyboard into denon avr -791

Hello,

I have a yamaha digital keyboard and i want to plug it into my denon receiver. I have a 5.1 home theatre system. The speakers I currently have are 4 bose cube speakers, 1 altec lansing center speaket and an altec lansing subwoofer. I have a 1/4" cable that goes from my keyboard to the receiver. I plug in the cable into the receiver and the display says "h/p on" but no sound comes ouy of the speakers when i try to play on my keyboard. The second thing i tried was connecting a red and black rca cable which also had a 1/4" pin on the other side of the cable into the receiver. I put the rca cable into the receiver and the other end of the cable into my keyboard. The speakers worked but only the 3 of them worked. Only the center speaker, 2 cubed speakers and my subwoofer was working. The other 2 cubed speakers were not. I also made sure the surround option on the denon receiver was set to "multi channel stereo". When i tried putting to surround sound using dolby and dts, only 1 cube speaker and the subwoofer was working. Is there a way to make all the speakers work?

Thanks!

Do you know for a fact your keyboard outputs stereo from the 1/4" phono plug output? Did those cables actually come with the keyboard? The one with the black/red RCAs indicates stereo.

Where exactly did you plug in that first cable to the AVR? Also the cables aren't called 1/4", the phono plug connectors are.

I doubt your Denon receiver has 1/4" inputs. If it has a 1/4" connector it's probably a headphone output. So you wouldn't want to plug a source in there.

Did those Bose cubes come with a Bass Module? Putting full range music to those limited speakers isn't advisable.

Tonight grab a cup of coffee and become one with your Denon owner's manual. You do have the manual, right?

BTW, I have a combination of GoldenEar, Meridian, JBL and other speakers in my Home Theater and when I play my keyboard/workstation through them it sounds fabulous.
