I just purchased Pioneer VSX-1023 but didn't purchase speakers yet. Can I connect speakers from HTIB Samsung HT-TQ85 to my new A/V Receiver Pioneer VSX-1023?

The receiver of that htib uses typical wire connections so you should be good to go.

Thank you for your reply. Are you sure about this?

I'm going to go with NO...

The HTiB speakers, from the rating on the back of that unit, appear to be 3-ohm impedance. That is really low for a normal AVR to drive - you might be able to get away with using them for a while, but if your AVR starts shutting down due to thermal protection, you should stop using them immediately. That low impedance is going to drive the amp hard...

(Now, that's what the HTiB unit says - if there's a different rating shown on the speaker(s) themselves, that could change the answer).

This is why I never recommend HTiB systems as a place to start - the pieces are generally incompatible with "normal" AV gear in one way or another, so when it comes time to do an upgrade - you end up starting over from scratch.

Sorry!

That was my deduction from looking at the receiver. Didn't see the speaker connections. I also assumed this was a temporary situation until you pick up new speakers so it seems workable to me. Jautor responded with a no. There are specs on the speakers here. Speakers specs aren't my forte so somebody else will have to determine if these speakers will kill your receiver.

I wouldn't, you are very likely to kill your receiver very quickly, it may work for a while, but the results in the end won't be pretty.

Thank you for all replies. It looks like I need to buy nice speakers now.
Budget $1k - $1,5k.

Something VERY small/flat/fashion looking (I know, I know).

Thank you.
