Changing video card from HD7750 to HD7770 will I need to reload drivers?

I have a HD7750 video card which seems to be failing and I want to know if I need to uninstall drivers first and re-install them or since they are the same family of cards will they just work?

Ordinarily I would uninstall and do a new install; looking for best info.

Thanks

i had issues going across generations, 3850 tp 6670, but within, should be ok. questions is. do you feel lucky?
worst case, reboot into safe mode to uninstall then reinstall if it doesnt work.

7790 though seems to have its own download options on amd website.

I wouldn't think a reload is needed. Especially from within the 7700 series.

No need to reinstall the drivers. They are the same for both cards. However, you may want to see if the ones you have installed are the latest.

Thanks, That was what I was thinking but wanted some confirmation.

It's my HTPC and want to be careful as to not cause other issues.

Thanks to you all

You can always check the AMD website and see which drivers they have listed for each card. It used to be when you download graphics drivers from AMD, you download them for a specific family (i.e., HD7000 series), not a specific card. I just checked and they just have the AMD Catalyst Display Driver for a specific operating system or groups of operating systems (i.e., Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, 64-bit). They don't even break it down by graphics card family anymore.

They changed to a unified driver approach about 2 years ago covering all currently supported models; I think back to the 5000 series currently. That is why I asked if it was necessary to uninstall and re-install drivers for a same series card; HD7750 to HD7770.

My older 7750 card looks like it is failing and the price diff between the 2 is very minor <$15 so the 7770 seems like a better deal.

Thanks
