Order my 18's today. Can I get my membership card now?

I think I have finally crossed over into the dark side of DIY. I ordered my 2 18" SI subs today. The dual 2ohm ones so I can run them at 4ohm. The plan is for sealed enclosures and running an inuke3000dsp. I wanted to thank everyone here for all the support. I know no one here gets paid to help, we all do it because we love projects, and HT. But I also know that some us newbies take advantage of it and ask stupid questions and ask them repeatedly. thank you all for the help, the honest answers and answering the questions even if they are ones that we should know the answers to. I can honestly say I have learned more in the last month since the DIY bug bit me than I have in the last 15plus years dealing with electronics and HT stuff.

p.s. I am being very nice, because I know there will be many more questions coming regarding, amplifiers and enclosures.

I hope you realize there's no turning back now. It just gets worse from here on in and after you experience your first DIY Project in action, you will be asking yourself why you didn't take the plunge sooner. The folks around here are super helpful and am sure you will get the guidance you need. Good luck on your first build!!!

I know it depends on where you live but how long did it take from ordering to receiving them?

What do mean, wait until I finish building my first diy project. I came across this picture today and thought. Hum, if 2 is good, 4 would be AWESOME!. The only restriction my wife gave me was a small footprint. Nothing that takes up all the floor space like a Martysub. So if I can do 4 18" subs stacked like this in the 2 front corners then....

Any reason you didn't go with the dual 4 ohm version so you could run at 2 ohms/channel get a little more power from that amp?

Man, you already got full blown DIY disease and you haven't even started. It's over!!. What are the dimensions of those dual driver cabinets?

Honestly no reason at all except that I was told that would be the best ones to order. Assuming it'll be better in the long run in case I ever have to go with a different amp I think it would be easier to find one that will run at four ohm instead of two. Actually even considering one of the plate amps from Dayton. Don't know jack about DSP are any of the other features the inuke offers. I'm coming from two klipsch several first with the built in amps that were pretty basic.

I'm curious about this as well. Especially as I just broke down and ordered another pair today with an Inuke 3000 as well. You can never have too many subs right? biggrin.gif

Don't stop there. Might as well add another to each side, it'll fit. biggrin.gif

Sorry it took me a while to respond, had to wait for the ambulance to leave. Wife called them to resuscitate after seeing that triple one. That is insane. This is going in a family room that is open to the rest of the family. I am surprised I was allowed to the 2 18" cabinets. Could you imagine those triple stacks going in the front corners of this 14' wide room?

Floor to ceiling, you mean as in the credit card bills after that kind of a set up?

D2's work really well in dual opposed config (2/2 + 2/2 = 2 ohm) into a 2 ohm load. This works very well if you have two dual opposed cabinets with 2 channel amps that are stable into 2 ohms. The CV5000 and IPR2 7500 both fit this config very well. Really good for hitting a very wide dynamic range.

It doesn't matter what they look like, its how they sound. (at least that is what I keep telling myself, I have spent the last 3 nights or so looking at finishing ideas, everything from duratek, stain, hardwoods, even leather wrapped.) Oh boy, this is going to be a fun couple of weeks.

Speaking of Duratex, where do you guys order it from? I don't see it at the local hardware stores.
