Now that would be something. A Touch 900 would actually be terrible.
But on a serious note, I think the OP has simply confused the Ultimate and the One. The One was replaced by the Touch a few years ago. Then the Ultimate replaced the Touch last year. There is no new Harmony on the horizon that I've heard of. I wouldn't expect anything for at least another year or two, except possibly a new low-end model. If they did come out with a new model, I doubt they would call it the "Ultimate One", but you never know.
The Ultimate One will be exactly same as 900 or One with red, blue etc buttons and sequences. A slightly smaller design with 8-10 device capability. It will come with no charger but you can use 2 AAA rechargeable batteries. It will have RF and bluetooth capability.
Well I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised and very impressed. Sounds like Logitech actually listened to their customers and came through with a design to satisfy their One fans.

So is it more of a "lower end" remote? 10 devices doesn't seem like a whole lot, and the AAA batteries seems weird. Though I don't know what the device limit is on my "One" right now

Look what else I found on Amazon here on the page for the Harmony 650. Toward the bottom of the page is a grid comparing Harmony remotes and their features. In that grid is a "Harmony Ultimate One". The link to the Harmony Ultimate One is a bad link. If almost looks like they are just renaming the Harmony Touch as the Harmony Ultimate One.

So that gives us a little more info, but not much.
- Rechargeable with charging stand
- Vibration feedback like Ultimate
- 15 devices like Ultimate
- IR only
- Exact same physical design as Ultimate
- List price $100 less than Ultimate
So it is essentially an Ultimate with no RF or smartphone app.
Today you can buy a Touch and a Smart or hub and it will work with RF like the Ultimate. I wonder if you can add a hub to an Ultimate One and get RF enabled? I'm guessing no.
So it can be described as a souped up Touch or a dumbed down Ultimate. Those who like the Touch would likely be happy with the Ultimate One. Those of us looking for an upgrade for our Harmony One won't be so happy.
I would think the hub would work. Guess we will find out with the formal introduction next week.
Looks like the pictures are actually of the Ultimate. The FF and Rew buttons each have two icons on the button; || buttons alongside the > buttons, I'll buy it the day it comes out. I know that you can currently use both functions using the "press and hold" functionality, but the old configuration with dedicated buttons for each is far better.

Im also wondering if this is just a placeholder as you suggest.
The whole idea of them just basically renaming a touch and now calling it an Ultimate One just doesn't make much sense.
Keeping my fingers crossed that there is a nice surprise coming in a few days.
