Dune base 3d, popcorn hour 410, mede8er 800x3d or plex?

Is the mede8er the best player out of the bunch? i know popcorn hour was having some issues with its firmware, not sure if its still on going?

Is plex just as good as the media streamers besides no iso/3d support?

is the mede8er 800x3d and mede8er 1000x3d the same besides casing?

just looking for the best solution to play the most file types., and lag free. i had a xtreamer but had to constantly run the emergency firmware fix to fix glitches it had.

ill be using the device wirelessly if that matters, incase ones better at streaming.

most of my files are 4gb-20gb mkv's. 800-1.5gb avis, 30-50gb iso's

the way im thinking is,

dune base 3d - best looking casing for home theater setup

popcorn hour 410 - most powerful chip / 1gb ram

mede8er - best 3d support?

plex - free

Good luck streaming high bitrate content wireless.

1. mede8er players are the current best value for money (at least in Europe, it seems that in the US their pricing is the same as the A400...). Med are also the most stable of the 3.
2. plex is not a media streamer, it's just a DLNA media server that needs a player at the other end (but this can can be many things from any media player to a smart TV)
3. yes, except form factor the x3D range shares the same specs and same firmware across all models.
4. same as gusgus : forget wireless for high bitrate.

If you're coming from Xtreamer, almost anything else is better biggrin.gif. But, agree with Mr. Eric and Gus.

I actually have a i3, 8gb htpc i built using mediabrowser in my room currently, before that i had xtreamer sidewinder/xtreamer pro and diamond wonder something?

just im moving into an appartment with a roommate so i need something for both rooms. i have a nas with 12tb's worth of content, so im thinking im going to keep the htpc in my room because it might be a bit too complicated for guests/roommate to use, besides i dont want them messing with it.

i was thinking about just using plex since my samsung supports it but i wouldnt beable to watch 3d bluray iso's.

so i guess im stuck between popcorn 410 and mede8er 600x3d/800x3d. i understand the mede8er is currently more stable but wouldnt you assume that the 410 will be just as stable after some firmware updates?

For stability they are almost on par now. If you want to stick with plex the A410 has a plex app as well and then just use samba for your 3d iso files. Either one is a good buy. I own both an a400 and a med600x both are a great purchase

I would suggest for you to google SMB (samba). It isn't an app. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smb://

The Mede8er MED600X3D for $200 is your best option if you're not connecting a hard drive to it directly. To use any of the Mede8ers wirelessly, you have to buy the optional wireless kit. As mentioned above, wireless is not recommended for high bit rate encodes. Other than that, having used a Mede8er myself for almost a year now, I think it is currently the best media player out there. Their support is also unmatched.

I also run a Plex server, but not for playback at home. Plex is absolutely the best option for remote streaming. It's almost as available as Netflix wink.gif
