Just watched Frozen 3D tonight and I was not disappointed. Probably the best 3D animation movie in all my collection.
Initially, from the beginning the music was really inspiring, well written and performed. I will probably get the CD to put in the car, it was that good.
The picture quality was very good too with full range 3D that filled the room with content, zero ghosting, and while some scenes were dark, there were plenty of highlights to overcome the darkness. Image detail in the textures were also quite obvious. No softness at all.
The package is rather expensive but considering this is still in the theaters and not yet released in Blu Ray, plus the package is being sold as a full 3D & 2D plus 8 added features make the price paid worth the $36 cost. It will be one we will watch here with the grandkids most likely multiple times. One of my grandson's is only 3 so we will watch it in 2D Friday night when he comes over.
Couple of pointers if you decide to buy this download package-
Be sure to watch to the end of the credits as there is a surprise.
Be sure to catch the Making of Frozen as there is a surprise in that too.
I didn't see this in the theater but now understand why it was such a box office hit and big money maker for Disney. My older grandson, age 5, did see the 3D version and was really excited about it. I won't be telling him we have it in 3D until after his younger brother sees the 2 D version.
Sorry- I posted this before in another thread to refute the negative nancy's circulating about the forum.
This advanced release of Frozen 2D / 3D/ Features is available through Vudu 3D collections. I set the download and viewing via my PS3 last night. It has been available since Tuesday.
A MUCH better option than paying Vudu $35 to own it!
I've ordered from Amazon UK in the past for Creature/Black Lagoon 3D before it was available here and was surprised that it arrived so quickly--less than a week. Just have to make sure anything you order is region free or you have a region free player.
Actually that is not true although I have read other misinformed posts and bloggers claiming this. The truth is the full boxed version right now is scheduled for April 15th release in the US. The rental has also been announced for release at that time as well. I heard a rumor that the full boxed version will be at $55 and include the multi discs for 2D 3D and the digital copies plus extras. "The Works" as I like to call them. I don't know if that price has been verified by Disney. But having said that it might get delayed or moved up depending on how things go in all places in the world where it is still in the theaters.
The reason for delays in hard media release is well known and based on theatrical timing world wide:
In a conference call to stock holders Bob Iger, CEO was questioned about release timing and he said the Disney will do what it believes best to maximize profits through timing the releases in different parts of the world based on theatrical presence.
They are also well aware that Blu Ray hard media is no longer secure so releasing on BluRay and DVD harms their ability to pay for the movie production once the hard media is released. Digital media at full quality is still considered secure. So, that is why we see these movies appearing on secure digital online versions while still showing somewhere in the world in the theater. Are they expensive? Sure but you don't have to pay the price, just wait for the boxed version to come out for a sale price that meets your budget. The downside is like any other movie, you'll be waiting. If you wait long enough it may show up on Netflix 3D for no added cost. Maybe in 2016
Josh Z that's also great news. But keep in mind it only buys you 15 days according to the US release I heard.

Not sure where you're getting your info from, but no Blu-ray 3D release is available to preorder for the U.S. or Canada (There is one for Mexico.), and Disney has made no public announcement about a future U.S. release date. The 2D Blu-ray "box" is scheduled for 3/18/14.
I don't have info on Canada release, only US. You are correct that Disney has not announced the $55 price point for the full boxed set. That is why I said that is rumor since it was stated by a retailer from his supplier. You are also correct that No Blu Ray boxed set is available for preorder that I have seen right now. But I never made that claim either. Maybe that will happen Saturday.
My only verified claim is the digital download version of the full set is now available for $36 from Vudu. My other claim is that it will be available in BluRay 3D and 2D when Disney completes it's world theatrical release schedule. If you want it now you can buy it from Vudu in 3D and 2D. Ed has posted an alternative for March 31. I have never tried the UK Amazon route but I'm sure that will work because he said it does.
Look, my friend, I'm not here to troll negative 3D gloom and doom. That should be obvious I'm only intending to let people know what is and isn't true. A serious trend I see in this forum about 3D is a constant posting of the "3D is dead" theme and people who don't see that are just fools. Fact is my entertainment with 3D is real and growing and I don't consider my enjoyment foolish. People are wanting to see 3D and ask questions where and when it will be available. They deserve a responsible answer so they can decide what to do. I believe my track record for exposing the truth and reality is pretty good. Whether it was reading between the lines that Pacific Rim will be available in 3D or Netflix had no plans to cancel 3D or now this about Frozen 3D being cancelled by Disney. Everything I have said is reality. At some point, people will choose who to believe, the trolls of 3D is dead gloom and doom, or the reality of what is happening. Meanwhile, I'll just keep helping others seeking answers and enjoying. What I don't want to do is spend a bunch of time debating obvious trolling of negativity.
So a retailer supplier stated that there is a tentative 4/15/14 BD3D combo pack release date for the U.S.? Thanks for passing that on. I hope it turns out to be true.
Would you accuse 3DBR Rentals of "photoshoping" a box art to plant a false claim of a product? Hackers do that but if a business does it it's called fraud.
I only wonder if this box art is actually that European release, in which case it might be illegal for them to rent in the US Check out the logos for a censorship organization. I never saw that before.
I sincerely hope you find these facts more satisfying than believing in the negative.
Yeah, that's a picture of the UK BD3D case. Not sure if it's a placeholder or 3DBDRental is actually going to rent that one.
I guess it's not a huge deal either way what Disney U.S. does. Not interested in the digital copy, so I've got the UK version on preorder. If they decide to release a U.S. version soon at a cheaper price, I will switch for it.

lol! Very similar to Disney's release strategy! Honestly, I'd have ignored this, as I do every other computer-animated movie. But with all the consternation over this thing, I'm curious as to what appeal it has for non-family-centric audiences. ( I don't own a single Disney/Pixar disc in 2D or 3D. IF I get this at all, it will probably be for the 3D if it's as good as you indicate . It doesn't have a ton of songs, does it?)
I just put in a pre-order at Amazon UK for the 3D BD. I figure for $30 shipped that's not too bad. And best of all it doesn't include a DVD. I hate that most of the US 3D releases include a DVD.
I just hope that if the exchange rate changes by the time they charge my card that the change is in my favor and it costs me less than $30.

Same here but now having grandkids age 2 and 5, I enjoy watching these with them, especially the humor watching the 5 yr old run in the room trying to catch the 3D stuff. The 2 year old is still too young so I enjoy having the 2D version as well so he can enjoy. The last Disney 3D animated movie I really got into was The Lion King. Frozen is of this level of inspiration. Nemo was another I enjoyed. Yes, Frozen has some really great singing in it right from the beginning. While not into musicals per se I do enjoy Disney's vocal talent and ability to tell a story in song. You may feel differently. It's really a personal call. I may have mentioned it before but I did not see the movie before in the theater so the digital download was my first viewing. I can say that wife and I were riveted to the story throughout. We watched the 3D and then all the extra features which were more entertaining than informative. When you get them you'll see what I'm talking about. I won't post a spoiler here.
We have two animations scheduled for tonight whehn the kids are here. Frozen in 2D and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in 2D. I saw Cloudy 2 rented from 3DBluRay that's been on order since the 11th but will need to pick up the 2D DVD version for the 2 year old for tonight. Cloudy 2 was a yawner, IMO.
The North American Blu-ray release of Frozen is scheduled for March 18th. It will be a two-disc set with a standard 2D Blu-ray and a DVD plus a Digital Copy code. Retailer listings for a 3D edition have all been pulled. When contacted by numerous outlets, Disney stated that 3D will only be available via streaming and digital download in North America.
The argument that the 3D disc has been delayed due to worldwide theatrical release timing doesn't make any sense. Why would they release the 2D copy in March? That's the one that the majority of viewers want to buy anyway. 3D is a tiny niche subset of consumers. The number of 3D Blu-rays they may sell in North America will have no impact whatsoever on a theatrical 3D release in Asia, or whatever.
Likewise, the argument that Blu-ray media is "no longer secure" is pure BS from the studio. Again, why are they releasing the 2D version of the movie on Blu-ray? If they feared that Blu-ray wasn't secure, they'd cancel everything.
Disney has ambivalent feelings about Blu-ray 3D and has toyed around with the sales model for discs like Oz: The Great and Powerful to see if they could gauge whether consumers really give a damn about it at all. Currently, the studio is more focused on pushing its new Movies Anywhere download service, in hopes of drawing 3D fans to that instead.
None of this is to say that Disney won't come around and eventually release the movie on Blu-ray 3D here, but it's not on the immediate docket and I wouldn't hold my breath for it if you'd prefer to own the movie on that format.
I just checked Amazon and their best selling Blu ray discs, the 3D versions of both Gravity and Thor are outselling the 2D versions of each currently. I don't know if that's a new release only phenomenon or not. I seems Disney does like to operate a bit differently, experimenting with special releases then pulling them off the market for some time. Hopefully they're not flat out giving up on 3D. I'll wait a month or two before discounting what Don has to say.

Been exploring new 3D content on Sony PS3 and saw Frozen 3D for purchase at $29.99 in the Play Station Store. Unlike Vudu, this is only the 3D version.
They also have several new release titles for rent. Rental works for 24 hours and most new releases are $7.50. Older titles are lower.
Would they really change the dialog of a movie for the UK?
Also, I'm thinking about order the 3D UK version, just to confirm, this will play just fine on a US PS3 correct? Does anyone know what format the 3D is in? i.e. 1080p/60 or 1080p/50, etc. I just want to be sure by BenQ 1070 will support it. Thanks!
From my understanding they used different singers depending on the language for different countries. But I'd bet the UK and American version will be the same movie. Difference will probably be the country code if any but someone here posted that they know this UK version will not be restricted. I tend to agree as 3BR is planning to rent it here. They show the UK version box on their website (Logical) US version in disk probably won't be released until after all theaters are done with the run world wide. I heard in June but nothing official on that. Then it will be the typical multi disk set and higher price for awhile too. Need to make as much money as they can before the title becomes worn out.
It should play just fine at BluRay of 1080 24P 1080 60p is not a Blu Ray supported format. 1080 25p is a PAL standard for European TV but BD is 24 fps All modern 3D projectors sold in the US support 1080 24P. You should be fine as long as the country code isn't an issue.
