Hi,

Need some advice on speaker selection for Dedicated home theater room in my basement

Room Size : 29ft x 17ft x 9ft (ceiling)

Mostly they will be used for TV/Movies/PS4 Gaming

Thinking about a 7.1 ch unless you guys think 5.1 is good.

Its gonna be 123" inch screen, with 1 row seating at 14 ft distance.

All the way back, I'm thinking about a Multi-game table.

Need suggestions for

1) Front speaker pair with Center

2) Sub-woofer

3) Surround -- Should I go in wall ?

I already own Yamaha RX-V673 7.2-Channel. Do you think it can do the job ?

All great ideas are welcome.

thanks a Bunch to all experts on this forums.

Big room means big powerful sub. I'd recommend the PSA XV15 . They are an Internet direct brand that provides much better value than traditional speaker company subs. And eventually, after you've got your HT room setup and you've had a chance to recover from how much you spent, get a 2nd one

Only your ears can decide what sounds good to you, but I did a lot of research when I needed a 5.1 surround system and listened to a bunch of different brands. I asked the sales guy at a local hi-fi shop to play various speaker pairs using the same source, but switching between different brands, all unknown to me. The speakers that I kept coming back to were Definitive Technology powered towers. This was back in 1999 I believe, and I ended up purchasing a complete Definitive Technology system which included a pair of BP2002 powered towers with built-in 250 watt amps for the 12" subs, a CLR2002 center channel, a PF15TL powered subwoofer with built-in 325 watt amplifier, and a pair of BP2X surrounds. I still have this amazing system and it sounds as good today as the day I bought it. You can get a similar system for around $2k, but like I said, go test listen various speaker systems for yourself to see what sounds best to you.
