Does anyone called Fox10 about theCoolTV yet?

The question is....is any of their programming ACTUALLY in HD?

They are, however, pumping out a 1080i signal...and upconverting their programming.

WPAN is now carrying Cozi TV programming....even though the guide still shows the programming as "paid programming".
It's always been like this since DirecTV resumed carrying the channel.

Basically, COZI TV is another retro TV channel...similar to RTV when WKRG carried it on 5.3.

^When did DirecTV start providing programming from WPAN-TV again?
According to RabbitEars.Info, WPAN-TV was broadcasting programming from Cozi TV on radio frequency channel/virtual channel 40-2 while broadcasting "paid programming" on their main channel (radio frequency channel/virtual channel 40-1).

It's been back since last April.

Something is up with them though. The listings have never been accurate since their return. What's listed as a local infomercial is often a national infomercial and vice versa. Now, there's no way of knowing what's on since the guide data is completely unreliable.
It looks like they are filling unsold time with COZI TV programming on the main channel as well.

For anyone who gets this channel OTA, are they still on channel 40? (with no PSIP redirecting them to their original channel 53)

It looks like WFBD and BLAB TV are giving them a run for their money....even WFBD is now in HD (at least on DirecTV)

TitanTV's guide to WPAN-TV's programming has programs from Cozi TV. The guide can be accessed on the official World Wide Web site for Cozi TV.

According to the Federal Communications Commission, WPAN-TV uses virtual channel 53 to direct or redirect local TV users to their programming broadcast over the air on radio frequency channel 40.

Has WPAN been sold? Neal Ardman, the former Equity/Luken excecutive behind the RTN/RTV networks looks to be running the show now at WPAN. He's even running spots getting people to advertise on WPAN.

Viewers may know him as "Gary Lee Robbins", the host of RTN's "Unreliable Sources" call-in show that ran on RTN and Equity-owned stations. His co-host was former WJHG weekend meteorologist Elizabeth Holmes, who also worked with him at Equity & Luken assisting him with programming RTN/RTV.

I believe he departed Luken after they lost the rights to the NBCUniversal programming that was a large portion of RTV's schedule. Soon after, many stations (including WKRG) dropped RTV and went with other diginets (mostly Weigel's MeTV).

The World Wide Web site for the Federal Communications Commission still lists Franklin Media, Inc. as the current owner of WPAN-TV.

I'm familiar with it. I played with it for a little while but didn't get much use out of it. There are no local TV stations available here in Mobile/Pensacola yet. The only Alabama markets they list as "coming soon" are Dothan, Montgomery and Huntsville, with no timeline for deployment.

I found a way to get around the walled garden restrictions and watch TV in any market of my choosing, but even that was disappointing. It's mostly grade-Z TV, niche programs and religious claptrap. There are a few stations which put up their nightly newscasts, which is neat, but not compelling enough to get me interested.

The actual streaming worked well, even on my slow wifi at home, with a decent but not high def picture quality.

It certainly has some promise but until it's available everywhere, the usefulness is very limited.

Yeah, but at my house, it woudn't connect because it suggest me to turn on GPS as I still had it on. But when I was riding, it connected. But I really hope Mobile and Pensacola is listed.

What I wanted them to listed are...

WMPV (5 subchannels)
APT (3 subchannels)
WHBR
WSRE (4 subchannels)
WJTC
WFNA
WPAN
WKRG
WALA
WPMI
WFGX
WEAR
WDPM

https://www.facebook.com/Syncbak Just do it and you'll get it soon.

I don't think WDPM is even on the air anymore. I used to get about a 15% signal from them, and I live in Foley, practically line of sight to the TV antennas. Now, nothing. If they're on, their output must be measured in single watts. eek.gif
