Tag spoilers responsibly for the uninitiated.

Moving our efforts to the PS4 has allowed us to remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements. We love setting challenging technical hurdles for us when working on each game – and this is no different. We’ve been working hard on The Last of Us Remastered to release a next-gen evolution worthy of the 200+ Game of the Year awards, not to mention the acclaim and expectations of our fans. We will be revealing more detailed information about the upgrades for the PS4 version in the coming months.

In addition to all the technical updates, we’re also including an exclusive director’s commentary for all in-game cinematics featuring Creative Director and Writer, Neil Druckmann; Voice Actor, Troy Baker, who plays Joel; and BAFTA Award winning Voice Actress, Ashley Johnson, who plays Ellie.

We’ve released a ton of additional content since The Last of Us launched in June 2013, including our first ever single player expansion, Left Behind. We’re happy to say that the major content releases will be included with The Last of Us Remastered:
  • Left Behind single player expansion
  • Abandoned Territories multiplayer map pack
  • Reclaimed Territories pack – details will be coming soon on exactly what is included

Whether you are new to The Last of Us or have played it already on the PS3, we hope you are all looking forward to this release. We are!

Who did the port, ND? I wonder if they had a team working on the PS4 version a while ago in parallel before the PS3 release.
I'm not sure about the last part of the question, but I'm sure sleuthing could uncover it.

The blog is from Arne Meyer on Apr 09, 2014 // Community Strategist, Naughty Dog and the first sentence says "working night and day at the studio" so it had to be ND, unless that is a industry accepted white lie, like ghost writing.

This part of the blog post "upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures" is pretty great.

Yup, this is a great game for the large amount of 360 owners that didn't have PS3 but bough a PS4 this generation. I really look forward to playing through it again as well.

This is a wish come true! I only had a 360 at the end of last gen and was jealous of you PS3 guys because of this game, now I'll get to enjoy it on the PS4!! I would have been satisfied with a straight port but upgrading it is icing on the cake. Can't wait to finally play it! I kind of regret reading some of the spoilers now, I didn't think I was ever going to play it. I don't know exactly how it ends but, I've got an idea based on what I've read.

If only GTA V would get ported over because I never finished it before I traded in my 360. It's the only last gen game left that interest me.

Even with spoilers you should have a great time. This is one hell of a gaming journey!

Another site I follow claims this is happening along with the PC version...though it is still technically a rumor, but seems like lately rumor = fact
. I still have my copy but will gladly upgrade to next-gen if it includes serious improvements.

I'm really looking forward to this! I knew there was a reason I got out of bed today.

I wonder... and this is totally speculation... what this means for the timing of Uncharted 4, combined with the notable recent departures from Naughty Dog.

If it comes out in the summer, does an Uncharted 4 released by Thanksgiving make sense? Even if it does could they pull it off? I am wondering if a remastered TLoU was considered a higher priority than Uncharted 4 internally, and maybe that decision (if it was a decision) was related to the departures. We'll probably never know...

edit: answered in the other thread "lions share" has been working on Uncharted 4.

The first Uncharted hit November 2007 a year after the PS3 launched but they also had footage of it before the PS3 console launched. I would love for it to hit this year but not counting on it.

I would buy Uncharted 1 and 2 HD remasters as well.

Just read game is 1080, better draw distances, and they doubled-down and started working on the PS4 version immediately after PS3 version shipped.

Only downside is I seem to remember Sony claiming it wast not coming or was not being planned, white lies everywhere.

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps4-news/1302.html

Studio co-president Evan Wells told PlayStation Access that the game's visual fidelity "has been turned up to eleven." They've got 1080p but beyond that, they're "pushing draw distances further and creating higher resolution character models."

Better lighting, better shadows, and the team is still aiming for that lofty 60 frames per second plateau. Interestingly, Wells confirmed that Naughty Dog started work on the Remastered edition for PS4 almost immediately after the PS3 version shipped:

"We had a lot of people on the forums saying 'can I play this on PlayStation 4?' We've been actually anticipating that, and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished the PlayStation 3 [version]. We weren't sure whether it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamoring for it we doubled-down, and put more effort behind it."

Glad I waited on this one. I had a hunch that there would be a PS4 version. In the meantime I've got a lot of Dark Souls II to keep me busy.

I am with you on that. Uncharted 4 should be great on the PS4 and was a key motivator for me buying the PS4.

I would also consider buying a remastered Uncharted 2, which I consider one of the most beautiful console games I have ever played.

It must be challenging converting from the PS3 to PS4 though, unless Sony has provided them with conversion tools.

I was going to wait, figured it would come to PS4, but then my ps3 YLOD and I got the bundle with The Last of Us. Still haven't had a chance to play, as now I am involved with GTA V, another game I could have waited to PS4 (considering the backlog I have). Oh well....

Has anybody found a video anywhere that has the spoilers edited out ?

I never played this game on PS3, and despite the fact I listen to a shizz ton of podcasts, I've really tried to successfully dodge most spoilers related to this game. I might have accidentally heard a spoiler or two, but I tried to quickly forget what I heard, and I'm trying to maintain a spoiler free situation before I dive into this game.

I'd love to see how the upconverted version looks, but don't want to spoil the F out of the game. Kinda weird that Sony wouldn't have a spoiler free version for somebody to look at.

Also, I was pretty disappointed that they didn't announce this game coming out in like one week or something... Or even very late June. It's going to be a long wait till late July.
