Using your Samsung TV as an IR Receiver

I was planning on using my Samsung TV (UN55F8000) IR sensor on the front of the TV as the IR receiver for my AV System- since there is an 3.5mm IR out port. All of my components are located in another room and I am using an Intelix HDMI Extender (over CAT6) with Bi-Directional IR built in, which is connected to the IR out of the TV. That then goes to my Xantech Connecting Block (789-44) which splits the signals to my components. If I use the included IR receiver from Intelix everything seems to work no problem, but nothing has worked if I try using my TV's IR sensor as the IR Receiver. Does anyone know if the Samsung TV's IR sensor can be used as an IR Receiver for other components, or if something needs to be enabled.

The way Samsung depicts the use of the IR out capability is just a connection to an included IR blaster, which will not work for my purposes.

I obviously can use the Intelix IR receiver, but it would really be much cleaner if I could use the Samsung TV's capability and not mount another ugly piece of hardware near it.

Your help and knowledge is much appreciated!

I'm pretty sure it won't work like that. You could use a 3- or 4-conductor wire to extend the Samsung IR blaster to the equipment location, but you'd be limited to using the TV's remote to control the other equipment. You need to stick with the Intelix IR receiver.

Have you considered using the Samsung IR blaster to "blast" the Intelix IR receiver? You could be attach the blaster and receiver to the back of the Samsung so they are out of sight.
