I recently bought a vizio 701d-a3r tv and I noticed that when I turn the tv on, the brightness setting appears to default to 50, even though it shows the correct value in the settings, 36. If I change the brightness value by one, then the tv displays the correct brightness level that is shown. The same issue happens if I switch between picture setting profiles.I have this issue on all the hdmi ports, however it does not occur with in apps like Netflix and YouTube.
I have tried resetting the tv, but it did not help.
I purchased the M701d-A3R in July of 2014 and the screen has developed a darkening area in the upper right about 24" in and 3" down. I contacted Vizio and they gave me some things to try, problem is, the tv is no longer under any warranty so if their suggested troubleshooting doesn't work, I'm SOL. So I will start shopping for a new tv that isn't a Vizio. From what I have found searching the web, folks have had problems with their 70" tv's regardless of the model. Shame you spend that kind of money for what you think would be a well made product and get a worthless warranty and from an American company. I work for a place and we sell electronics that cost as little as $300 that carry a manufacturer 3 year standard warranty. Enjoy the money Vizio, you get anymore of mine and of course I'll never recommend you to anyone.
