Martysub Flatpacks ( I HAVE RETIRED FROM DOING THIS )
If you want a subwoofer that has amazing sound reproduction and don't have the tools to build it entirely yourself then this is the place for you. After four months I have built 35 flatpacks for various people. The only tools you would need to complete the sub with are clamps and a drill. I help you all through the process until you have a sub rocking. All flatpacks include :cut mdf to exact sizes
double baffle with cutout for driver and recess if needed
bracing strips

The Martysub is a ported subwoofer enclosure which was designed by Ltd02 and been expanded into several different sizes.

prices for flatpacks will be to the usa :

1) minimarty will be $289 us
2) Martycube will be $249 us
3) Microcube will be $219us

These are total prices shipped to you. Discounts for ordering two , pm for a quote.

I can't believe the MODS delete the last few posts in your Martycube thread and locked it out....lol

That's extremely sad. So much for this being an open forum

Jb,

i saw that and was wondering about that to ( deleting the last few posts ).  Anyhow, maybe it was just a housekeeping / keep things tidy, kind of decision.

What ever the case was, I think it was in bad taste but what ever. Its not like things had gotten out of hand in that thread. Maybe it would of been okay if Donny started a thread in the sub section like all of the other manufactures?....lol He sells 15 subs and suddenly his thread is getting booted out of the DIY section? I just don't get it, at least the actual thread is still available for guys to read threw if they want to do some research.

i'm a little confused too. maybe this page could be "for those interested in buying something" and the other thread could continue with the discussion of everything related to building and setting up the cubes? or should i point folks from the diy area over to the classifieds area who are interested to learn more about building their own Martycube? that doesn't seem quite right.

and what are the ramifications of this for guys like erich, because the "rallying" thread has lots of his stuff for sale? and what about all the diy threads where somebody gets royalties on a crossover design in a speaker? are they going to be moved to classifieds to?

maybe there could be some clarification on how this is all supposed to work?

while donny offers to cut the panels for a charge, all the information is in the other thread for folks who want to diy the plan and lots do!

i suspected that lots of diy guys would be happy to follow donny's lead and build their own Martycubes! even if they never bought anything from him, which is why i helped with the design.

i haven't been paying real close attention for the past couple weeks, but i remember donny helping folks out all over the place, irrespective of whether or not they buy anything.

anyway, i don't get any royalties or anything from any of it and kind of doubt that i will check the classified section on a daily basis like i do the diy area. i don't know...this one just seemed more like a diy thread with the option that donny would cut the wood for you for a charge then a sales page for his products/services.

I'm guessing the problem was how that thread was initially worded because it came right out and said 'I'm selling these for a profit....contact me here'. Not sure what was in the last posts that got deleted before it was locked.

I'm very careful not to post my website page anywhere or push anything. I don't think I've ever posted a link to it. Normally I just answer questions if someone asks about a kit, or what's being worked on. But I try to be as vague as possible on the speaker kits. Hopefully no one has any problem with that.

On this thread, I will continue to answer any questions on Marty subs. Whether they're buying a flatpack or doing it all by themselves. For every pm I get, that results in someone buying a flatpack, I get 5 pm's just asking for help. Either way, they get the same assistance. I understand LTDs point of not sending people to the classifieds for free help.

I don't want to see the mods clamp down on other threads and I don't think they will. I started the martysub pack thread thinking that it would only be a 100 posts and never would have believed that it would turn into the monster thread that it did. In many ways, it was a general subwoofer / amp / finishing thread. I hope people feel comfortable doing the same here, but if not, I will be seeing you in the DIY threads too.

But really why should you even have to dance around the subject, you proved a service that helps out the DIY community and so is chalugadp. I don't see why anyone would get upset about either of your selling the stuff that you are.

I know that you don't link your webpage Erich but lots of other people do so really its no different, I'm just scratching my head as to way the mods shut down the thread. Seems strange. Its not like you and chalugadp are trying to get rich here and I'm sure everyone knows time is money. Hell I offered to donated some beer money to John for all of his help he gave me on my subs.

Anyways that's enough ranting from me

I for one can attest that Donny has helped me with many sub, amplifier, REW, woodworking and probably even car trouble questions and he has never pushed the purchase of a cube, flat pack or anything else from him. Unfortunately most new people wont know to come here to learn about the marty. Hopefully since we are all frequent prowlers of the DIY section we can direct them towards here. For one I am going to add this link to my sig for a while to let people know where I got my sub and who helped create it. The mods have to do their thing, we still have a great website here and we all will learn a lot from it. It is their choice, if we are not happy with it we can go some where else. I just wish sometimes they would give an explanation to their actions. So that we can learn from the mistake and not spend another 2 months posting on another thread then have it gone.

Thanks for the kind words

Don't worry about my side business. My kids aren't going without slurpees if flatpacks slow down.
. Actually in the last three hours four people have inquired. I am fine building 1-2 subs a month. The local market is picking up strong with a group of guys buying up the cubes. I honestly love it when I see a dude build his own and enjoy it.

Wondering what you guys think is the price you would pay for a custom pair of speaker stands made of solid wood? Around 18" tall with interior hollow so you can put sand in it. I will have a couple of possible designs in the next couple of days.

I guess it all depends on what kind of stand for what kind of speakers. Stands for the Tempest would be more than say stands to hold the 1099 or Fusion MTM up horizontal at an angle. For say the Tempest to lift them up about 12" I would probably say no more than $50 for the set. I am going by what I would pay vs what I would be willing to take the time to build. For $50 I would pay it and be done, if I had to buy the wood, buy the paint and build them, my time would probably be worth more than the $50. Just my thought.

Cessna's statement here.... "I am going by what I would pay vs what I would be willing to take the time to build" is pretty much the same way I think as well.

I did DIY the 3 martys, but considering the time I had to put in ( little hidden cost, gas, garage a mess, etc ) in retrospect I think I would have rather paid, and saved the time.  Though, it was a great learning experience / confidence builder.

Now, im considering 3 1099's across the front and 3 surrounds in the back ( volts perhaps).  And though, I could get these put together myself, the thought of them just appearing at my house, done and ready to be hooked up sounds awesome.  It's just a matter of how much money I would have to spend to get it.

too answer your question though, the most id probably drop on speaker stands, would be 100, maybe 150.

Another idea too.....lots of people like to put stuff on top of their subwoofers.  what about just doing a nice, stained piece of wood that people could put on top of there subs to dress up a bit, give it a nicer furniture look.  If the price was good i think you would get some takers. You could let buyers chose their stain color ( we all love options ) and then ship it to them ready to go.

Based on your feedback I am not sure it would be worth it for me to make speaker stands. Been sick the past two days and have done nothing. Much better today and i am making my minimarty sub to replace my cube enclosure i sold to someone. Will post some pics later

it seems that putting this thread in the classifieds has effectively killed it off as the place to 'discuss' the cube.

There's now a "Marty cube" thread in the subwoofer forum section now, so I'm thinking that's where we'll start to see a lot of discussion on it.
