It's been a while,
but Summer is over here and it's time to prepare for Winter Hibernation in the man-cave.
Finally got myself a bar fridge so I dont have to run upstairs to the kitchen for re-fills/ice, it even came with a Bonus matching microwave for snacks/pizza etc.
A few Corona's left to kill off and I'm moving up to the higher octane anti-freeeze soon. Jack&Coke's and Grey Goose/Bombay Martini season has Arrived!
I also scored a freebie Kettle Popcorn machine, it was a demo unit in one of our showhomes

My first upgrades/additions to my Man-Cave in almost 3 years




Martini corner, laptop and remote/controller storage


Oh, and I picked up a new 15" Velodyne Sub for half price to go with the pair of 12's I already had.
2000 watts of bass for a 2000 cubic foot room sounds,.... strike that , "Feels" just about right now.

Started in the left rear corner but eventually found it sounds best right behind my center seat.

Gives a whole new meaning to "Shaken not Stirred".







Started breaking it in right with the new Transformers flick as a shake down run, then the War of the Worlds
it only took a modest level -20 on my AVR, sub level set to 0, sub volume at 42 (out of 100) to peg my SPL meter at 110db

Very nice setup you've got there PioManiac! Looks like you're ready to make the best of what will no doubt be cold times to come up there in Alberta. Finish up those Corona's!

BTW, LOVE the SPL number.

81 degrees here in Dallas Kipp. Had the windows open this morning but it heated up in the house so the air conditioner's running now.

Earlier watched the Cowboys beat up on Buffalo (no, not a Cowboys fan, I'm originally from South Jersey, waiting to see how the Eagles did ) and now watching the G'ints vs San Fran. And enjoying yes, the usual, some bourbon & Sprites.

No kidding. I've been off my game lately. I'm actually between drinks right now. Gotta find something new. Bourbon and rum have gotten old.

I agree with that 1000%. I keep walking into the liquor store saying to myself, alright, now it's time for something completely different, but I still end up walking out with a bottle of bourbon. I saw a commercial on TV recently about Southern Comfort with Tabasco in it. Hmmm... My memories of SC from my youth were not good. I remember this stuff as being very sweet, like sickeningly sweet, and I think on more than one occasion causing my stomach to revolt. Maybe not.

One thing I like about this time of year is that the gift sets, which more often than not include glasses in a nice storage box start showing up in stores. I've filled a shelf in my cabinet with the glasses and shot glasses from these sets. The booze doesn't seem to last too long though.

Me likey Vodka and lemonade. Best with Three Olives Berry Vodka.

Sundays watching the Browns calls for lots of alcohol!!

So, for the weekend I'm going to experiment a bit. I picked up a bottle of this:



and some of this:


which is made with pure cane sugar instead of corn syrup, and see if the reason I'm not enjoying mixers these days is because of the corn syrup component. My grocery store carries a range of Boylan sodas, including "Cane Cola", so maybe I'll pick that up next. Wish me luck!

Mixing with ginger ale was just... okay. Never was a big fan of it anyway, but I didn't want the caffeine in my system last night before going to bed. And really, Irish whiskey isn't high on my list of favs either, but I'll continue on with some Cane Cola and whiskey over the weekend.

I'm off all next week and will be making a run to the liquor store in Addison, where the prices for hard stuff are lower. I think I'll be putting some Cognac on my list for my Thanksgiving Day treat. I'm hoping to come across a Hennessy gift set with some nice snifters to add to my collection.

I like the gift sets too. I always try and find some cool ones. Was at the liquor store tonight and saw that Hornitos was giving away the devils horn shot glass. Pretty cool. But I'm stocked up on tequila for the time being. Now back to my Bacardi/diet. Cheers.

I'm still hitting the rum tonight. But I did finally light up the pipe for the first time in a while. I stick with cigars when it's warm out, but fire the pipe up in the chilly months.

You guys with your fancy warm weather. We got our first snow of the season today. It started out as freezing rain then turned into snow. Made driving loads of fun. I actually had to shovel my driveway. But that's all in the past now. My good buddy Bacardi and his friend diet Coke have me all cozy and I'm as snug as a bug in a rug.

And what do you do when watching your Vikings lose, double up on the Bacardi, or throw caution to the wind and use the non diet Coke Classic?......

And BTW, my Packers are doing just fine this year!
