DIY subs

Thread Starter
I plan on building some subs for my HT.
The question is, if I am using the LFE output from the pre-amp to an amp pushing the subs, do I need a low pass cross-over before the subs?
I think that since I'm using the LFE channel, I wouldn't need the X-over.
Am I right?

Your right. Your processor will provide the xover you need for your subs, however most are usually fixed at the THX standard of 80hz (some receivers are higher). If you are using a large speakers for your mains that have good bass response, then 80hz may be too high.
