Just got a Comcast e-mail stating that myDVR was available. I went through the activation process several days ago. Go to Menu>Setup>Remote Access and activate the DVR. Follow the link on the e-mail (http://www.comcast.net/myDVR) to activate.

The actual page for managing the DVR is http://www.comcast.net/tv/rdvr-listings/# Click on the Manage my DVR box for viewing your recordings. Adding a listing requires finding the show, clicking for information, then selecting Record Program.

Unfortunately, the online selections I made have not shown up on the TV DVR schedule. It looks like the myDVR Manager knows what shows are on my DVR schedule but it is not able to upload a schedule to my DVR.

12/13 Update: After a period this morning where myDVR Manager was not available, it is now working. I was successful in remotely scheduling a show and a series. Pretty cool.

I noticed there are AP and Multichannel articles circulating that state the FCC is considering ending the "terrestrial exemption" for TV stations. Basically means CSN Philly would have to share/provide to Directv and Dish Network.

Comcast will stop at nothing to prevent this and pull out all the stops... although the FCC could tie it in as a provision to approving the NBC-Comcast deal...

Has anyone else in South Jersey lost all of their Digital QAM channels? I have had all of the local HD channels and the entire digital expanded basic lineup available in the clear for over a year. Today they all disappeared. The only thing I am left with is the analog versions of channels 2-22. I have rescanned several times. I do not think it is just the normal qam channel reshuffling.

My Moxi DVR is getting all of the correct channels, so it is not an outage. The other thing that has me puzzled is that I received a 2nd DTA on Monday out of the blue. I ordered one back in August and got it within a week. I did not order the one that arrived on Monday and it was sent UPS overnight Air. Why would they send an unrequested DTA using such an expensive shipping method unless they wanted to make sure I had it before they pulled the plug? Lastly, I am a Comcast of Maple Shade subscriber. The "world of more" /project cavalry was completed here over two months ago. If the QAM channels were deleted/encrypted due to a policy change, 2 months seems to be a logical time frame to do it.

I hope this is only a glitch and my QAM channels(at least the local HDs) will return in a day or two, but I am not optimistic.

Rufus, I think your days of unencrypted QAM are over The first areas to do this in Washington, at least got message on their STBs about how on so and so date, EVERY tv must be hooked up to a DTA or cable box to get channels above limited basic level of service, aka they were turning on privacy mode/encryption. This day will come for me sometime early next year, as we got our new wave of HD channels about 2 weeks ago.

I'm assuming you have Pace DTAs? Hold the info button on the remote for a couple seconds, and it takes you to a diagnostic screen. Under the line for "DTA Mode" I think it is, it will say "normal operations" if the channels are still unencrypted, and something else, probably "privacy mode" if they have indeed turned on encryption. That should get you your answer.


We got remote DVR scheduling and the A28 guide update last night in Lower Bucks, I know some other areas including northeast Philly got it as well. I tried it out and it actually works, I can see all my scheduled shows to record on the website, and add new ones.

That still doesn't answer why he lost Ltd. Basic HD/SD from clear-QAM. Hopefully, it is just a glitch or they had to change the status of those channels temporarily, while they turned on 'privacy mode' for Expd. Basic SD.

Does anyone know when MyDVRManger is coming to Center City? I haven't seen a new guide yet either.

When I try to login it says "Sorry, myDVR Manager is not available at this time"

It allows you to control your comcast dvr over the internet. Beyond that I'm not sure, but you can set recordings, delete, modify series recordings, etc.

Delco Aston area must have just updated to add all or most of the 800 HD channels as there are now all mentioned above plus a bunch more.

I just got the first notification of the new HD channels in the 800s via snail mail yesterday. Way to go, tell me almost a month after they are added. Thanks Comcast! If it wasn't for forums like this I wouldn't have any clue.

I gt an email about 3 weeks before this happened.
I found the channels by accident just scrolling through the guide.

But there was a message on my menu aout 3 days after I found the chanels.

Hello all, I just signed up for this forum today and am getting quite a bit of information already. Does anyone know how to find out if these 800-level channels will be available in Wilm. DE anytime soon? Just got HDTV as an early Christmas present and want to get the best bang for the buck.

I'm in Old City Philadelphia with Comcast HD-DVR (DCH-3416), and I'm trying to activate the MyDVR manager through the internet. When I go to the website http://www.comcast.net/mydvr I log in, check availability, it says congratulations, it's available, but once I click on activate I get a page saying "Sorry we cannot activate you at this time."

I've spoke with customer service, and two reps said it is active in my zone, and suggested I do a power cycle. No dice. The third sent a signal which made some red lettering pop up on my screen, and after that I seem to have iTV (which doesn't really help me as I don't have comcast phone), but still having the same issue with MyDVR Manager. This last guy said he saw deep in the notes that it's status in my zone is "pending" but clearly that's not what the website says. And frankly the last two reps weren't even familiar with the service until I told them about it.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I have FIOS in North Wilmington, but I haven't been able to find ANYTHING out regarding the analog reclaims and new HD for New Castle County. It's almost as if the schedule does not exist for this area. I know a lot of people in Wilmington city limits that are dying for more HD since the damn mayor refused VZ permission.

Thanks Jeepmatt. I've seen comcast slowly creping south and was hoping they would get to Wilmington sometime soon. The new channels are right over the border in PA (Delco) from me.

Same thing happened here in the Willow Grove system, when it is indeed 'pending'. Just keep trying, say twice per week, and it should be working soon.

I'm finding this whole Verizon thing bizzare. My area had Verizon lay their lines in August, still no fios availability listed. I'd REALLY like to see this resolved before I have to get boxes for all my sets anyway via Comcast.

Why are a bunch of 2xx channels now cloned in 8xx? if bandwidth is an issue what's the purpose?

Unless I'm much mistaken, cloning channels does not effect bandwidth. They're not broadcasting the same channel two you twice, just two locations on the box are pointed to the same signal. Kinda like a shortcut icon in MS Windows.

Ah, that makes sense. Sure clutters up the guide though.

I still can't use myDVR. I activated it a week ago and can't find a link to take me to myDVR. I try reactivating and it tells me there is a problem.

Well the 800s are just HD channels. So you if you want to just browse HD channels go to 801 then page down until you wrap back to 1, and all those channels are HD. I kinda like having them all in one spot with a logical break. Only problem is my series recordings are all set in the 200s and if they eventually get rid of that mapping I gotta reset them.

As for MyDVR, I'm not sure what the deal is where you are. I know it says it take up to 24 hours after activating to work but I'm still not able to activate... though the site likes to tease me by showing "Activating" for a few seconds before flipping to "Cannot Activate You At This Time".

It's a little game we like to play... :/

I made a channel compendium sheet last night as the Comcast channel listing for me (Sellersville) was seriously lacking in channel info and I see that there are 4 PBS channels not mapped into 8xx: 244, 257, 258 and 262.



According to the Comcast help, you log in, go to tv listings and top right is a myDVR link. Well, I can't find it, I was wondering what others are doing to access it. I 'activated' about 2 weeks ago.

That is correct.

No you don't; series recordings are based on channel label, not channel number, just for this type of situation, where they will be changing channel numbers.

Try http://www.comcast.net/tv/rdvr-listings/# The myDVR control will show as a blue box at the top of the listings.

Wow good to know! But that makes sense with the bug when they used to mislabel the HD counterpart of an SD channel. I guess even if I tell the DVR to record a series on TLC HD on 837, it will pick it up on 225, until 225 goes away.

I was thinking of changing all my recordings to point to the 800's because of the inevitable, but that saves some time now that I don't have to.

No joy, says unavailable. Can't activate again either although there it says available. The activation was reported as successful 2 weeks ago but nothing since has indicated it is in place.

Right, and I was going to mention that, but I didn't want to start a tangential topic. But, since you mentioned it, the big problem five years ago for many mos. forward was ABC-HD. Several years ago, ESPN2-HD, and last year TCN-HD.

One would think, after the first mistake, that having a unique channel label, would the first written instruction, for the purpose of adding/labeling channels for the Guide.

That should be a one-time process.

There is a different site/process to schedule your recordings which is this -- go to »www.comcast.net, login with your user name and password, then select TV Listings from the upper left hand side of the main comcast.net home page. Then you should be good to go.

or even simpler - AFTER activation go to »www.comcast.net/tv/rdvr-listings
