My service tech saw the problem and he noted that this is totally unacceptable for a top-of-the-line set. This is a straightforward tube issue. It is not related to any external interference. Adjusting white balance/black levels, etc. has no effect. There are no service menu options to correct it. Degaussing has no effect. Unfortunately, my local tech has no power to correct the situation on his own. He is attempting to get an answer from Toshiba but seeing that this problem has been in previous models, I fear that Toshiba will not readily admit that this as a flaw. I have personally called Toshiba first-level support and got the brush-off. I plan to call Toshiba again and request second/third level technicans or management. I have also written emails that have been forwarded to Toshiba home office - no response yet. FWIW, I would encourage others with this problem to call Toshiba at 800-631-3811 as well as email Toshiba support at firstname.lastname@example.org ... the more they hear from us, maybe as a group we can make a difference and either get a fix or obtain a full refund. We should not stand pat and accept this design flaw. We have paid a premium and expect equivalent quality for our hard earned money. So far we have been shortchanged. So, please email or call Toshiba and let's make a difference for all who currently own or are considering this set. Do not give up on this issue. I have won a few David & Goliath battles in my time - perseverance can pay off - and there is power in numbers.
