Has anyone had an outdoor antenna installed? If yes, by who and how much.
Also, I was considering exchanging the Samsung for the Zenith HDV 420. Does anyone have any experience with the Zenith?
If you're looking for some professional help with an outside antenna, I'd recommend you call Greg Calvimontes of Pittsburgh Custom Home Theater at 412-362-1273. He did a great job for me after I went through many "so-called" experts, i.e.; Radio Shack, Digital Visions, etc. PLUS his charges were more than fair.
Before hooking up with Greg, I was only able to get KDKA with any consistency. Now I get KD, 11-1 and 4-1.
As to type of antenna, I think it really depends on where you live and the "shot" you have to the towers. That said, I think the Channel Master Yagi with a 7775 pre amp can't be beat. Remember, the HD signal comes out via UHF and that's what a yagi is made for...UHF.
Anyhow...give Greg a call.
As for receiver, Greg liked the Zenith 520 slightly better than the Samsung TS 160 but told me the latter was far more compatible with my new ReplayTV 5040. As stated earlier, I'm extremely pleased with the Sammy and credit it with pulling in a consistent picture from WTAE.
As for the Super Bowl tonight, aside from early on audio/picture dropouts, the game was great in HD. There was one point in the game that I had a picture dropout for a good minute or so. Seemed like it eminated from the network itself. Clearly, to me...CBS did a much better job with HD than did ABC.
Question...I noticed that there was a sound delay and it almost seemed that Al Michaels/John Madden appeared to be "lip syncing". Did anyone else notice that?
